Football Ole Miss too much for shorthanded Penn State to handle as Lions fall 38-25

I’ve read that on here the last two years…why not wait and see? So if we win 10 next year then I guess it’s because the schedule wasn’t as tough as we thought. Convenient how that works.
We have zero quality wins in the last two seasons. Utah was playing their back up QB and had a key TE opt out. What was the last big game Penn State won?

How do you figure? We aren’t going to play two teams that finish the regular season 11-1 next year. Washington and OSU are breaking in new starters and are at home. UCLA? USC that loses their qb and lost 5 games this year?
It’s what he says every year until we win 10 then he says our schedule was easy. It’s a no-lose argument.

Unless Ohio State finds a QB in the portal that game is winnable

Depends on your definition of a big win, but Utah was a big win whether you want to call it that or not. If we would have beaten Ohio State this year, you would have said they were down this year and it wasn’t a big win. Would you rather be 7-5 with a win over Ohio State?

I get that..I’m just making a point that fans can’t expect their teams to play like they did during the season if it’s not the same team, and it’s not the coach’s fault.

I agree.

Today was mildly fun. A winning performance would have been better, but it bears no fruit on '24s results.

I do feel sorry for FSU fans though. Undefeated, snubbed, opted out, shellacked!

Yeah, we know I don't care about the outcome but I had fun watching parts of the game. There's some talent coming back and gaps that Franklin needs to fill. Today clarified that. Hopefully Franklin is completely hands off with the offense as well.

And the “experts” will use this to justify FSU not getting in or as proof that Georgia should have gotten in, but will they say that Bama shouldn’t have gotten in if Michigan beats them? I seriously doubt it.

No one needs to justify it. FSU clearly wasn't a top 4 team.
The bigger issue remains Georgia being left out

That’s why I want him to break it down. He can’t go an inch deeper than “the sky is falling”

It's the 9-3 ceiling fans who whine about losing 3 who kill me when we do exactly what they expect. Yet are ready to fire, hire, and hang themselves over it.

But remember back in the good old days when we never had three loss seasons? Oh yeah, I don’t remember those days either.

Remember when PSU was an affordable school with high attendance and a proud alumni base?

Well that model has been replicated by all of the southern schools. They are affordable. Most now provide a better education. They have large / proud alumni.

College football isn't going anywhere merely because PSU, in this respect, is dying.
it's not that unaffordable. there are far worse examples

I think that's a Franklin thing not Olu
Because it’s not a good impression for the other guys on the team that are playing. They see how the coaches treat someone who has opted out after playing several seat for the school. You cant punish a great player for deciding it’s not in their best interest to play. The other players can see this as being ungrateful for what you have done for the team.
Jack Ham has been saying that all game. He said he thinks Allar's throws are "flat".
they just aren’t good enough

I’m predicting 9-3 but am not happy about it. It’s just what the data shows will happen based on rinse, repeat.

You can include them in everything and have them on the sidelines without dressing them--pretty sure Harrison wasn't dressed for Ohio State but I don't have a major problem with it. Just saying it wasn't Olu's fault. Franklin decided that.

9-3 will not make the playoffs and will be a failure. If Franklin doesn't make the CFP next year he needs to be on the hot seat
he won't be, because even after next year psu would owe him more than 50 million dollars to make a change. dumb deal but a contract is a contract

When no one creates separation early you'll see what we saw today
Agree, but when you see that you don't keep doing the same thing over and over or try to rely on gimmicks. You put in your QB that is a running threat to help the RBs by not allowing the D to key on them and you use 2 TEs to put the guys on the field that can actually get open and catch the ball once in a while and help block. If it is broken, you do what you can to try and fix it. Franklin and staff don't make effective adjustments.

You don't bench your best QB because the skill players aren't good enough. You change the play calling to create space. I agree they don't adjust but Beau wasn't the solution

after Beau threw the TD they should have just stayed with him until he failed to keep delivering. allar has not really earned much at this point, besides starting the game. every big game has been terrible, and I don't know if I would even call today a big game

You keep acting like Beau was impressive on that throw. It was a trick play that didn't require a read and he was still late and behind the receiver. No idea how you don't think Allar has earned anything but Beau earned PT for that play

Beau would have another threat to run and that would have caused Ole Miss to adjust again, which gives us a better chance. it wasn't working with allar.

this is the 3rd time this year that Franklin didn't seem to be trying to actually win

I'm sorry but going to a lesser player at QB is never the best option. The issue wasn't the guy taking the snaps but they inability to adapt. See Ole Miss after their opening drive.

With the talent that is leaving early for the NFL I don't think the playoffs are in the cards for PSU next year.
we aren't going to the playoff neat year, that is almost a guarantee. 10-2 was good enough for #10 this year. we will have a worse record next year

I think the buyout needs to get under 20 mil before any serious discussions of canning him can be had.
i agree, I think that's the point when they would make a change. if Franklin sees it coming he may leave on his own one or two years before that. But nothing is happening next year or in 2025

Not one single soul said that before this season. People keep moving the goal posts for this fraud.

well then get ready for not acceptable, or lowest acceptable in the absolute best case scenario possible.
11-1 is possible next year. Washington, Ohio State and USC are all breaking in new QBs and we avoid Oregon and Michigan. 10-2 is just beating one team close to our level.

and we are breaking in a new defense, two new coordinators and probably new WRs. the OL will have big replacements to make. what will be so good about our team other than the RB position being fairly strong on paper (again)

Glad to see DaeSean indirectly call out some of the guys on Twitter by saying "Since when non first rounders sit out bowl games." He is right...this program has a sort of good 'culture' but still way over-inflated with JF's media team.

There are numerous examples, but take Bama having to play K-St in the Sugar Bowl after a disappointing finish. Bryce Young and Will Anderson (two TOP 3 PICKS), played in the game. That's player led leadership, not the soft, indifferent mentality of our program.

And we get 5 wins to ease into it before a trip to USC
If we opened against USC or Ohio State I'd be far more concerned
