FFS Now Braeden Davis is in the portal..
157 is a severe cut for him and the matches i saw him wrestle at that weight he had very little energy later in the matches.
Can he really hold that for a season?? We saw it here and he was a shell of himself.
Barring more portaling, OKST needs help at non-Lockett 165/174 more than at 157, both this year and beyond.
And it's a better weight range for Facundo.

Just wanted to see what the general consensus around here is with Facundo. From minimal lurking on here, it sounds like he battled it out with Kasak but ultimately Kasak got the better of him. With 74 being open, Dee likely going 64, and there being a log jam 57, what is your opinion of Facundo's upside at 74? Thanks in advance.

Agree . Facundo has told teams he can go 157 or 165. He would be a small 174. They could go 157 Facundo 165 Lockett for 1 year then go 157 Robideau 165 Facundo 174 Lockett

Alex has elite defense but in his limited NCAA wrestling seemed to struggle to set up shots against R12+ hand fighters.
If any staff could teach him how, it’d be ours, or yours…. And he did beat Levi and took Burroughs down at OTT.
He would be 149 with John lol. Poor Joe he kept trying to hit 200 so dad would say you can't make the weight anymore yet John still made him cut his balls off.
He's good, IMO he's best at 165.
He can wrestle but is hesitant to pull the trigger.
165 is probably his best weight. He looked really sucked down at 157 but is probably still a bit undersized for 174. That said he is a talented kid who needs to trust his offense more. If he develops in your room, he has AA potential. If he stays defensive, and keeps working for 1 takedown victories, he's probably a blood round guy.
He's a PSU West now, not John Smith's Ok St. It's far more likely he comes out next year as a fully filled-out 174 than a skeletal 157.
Sounds like a really good kid and teammate. Not going to rehash what others have said, but will repeat what I posted elsewhere. He’s got a good body type for what I think DT wants to work with - long arms, lanky like him rather than fireplug guys.
Barr had similar issues re: offensive trigger-pulling as Facundo and definitely worked it out, so a repeat of that with Alex and you’ll have yourself a great plug in. He’s also excellent at Free so it only helps your RTC too
Just my opinion. Last summer he was walking around heavier than Levi and Levi was leaving workouts weighing 180. If he tries to wrestle 157 he will never have energy in the 3rd period and he will not get past the Friday blood round.
165 he will still be skinny.
If upon arrival the kid hopped into a weight room I think he could be a great addition at 174. He could compete on full feed, he would have a gas tank, he would have length and you know DT is going to teach him offense, defense and scrambling.
Weight room?? You ‘spect DT has plans on replacing all the saunas with a weight room??
I wish Alex all the best, but there are no signs that his offense is going to magically appear. He's pretty baked if you ask me. If Cael couldn't open him up, I don't know that DT will be able to, either. A great kid, though, and I hope he does well against everyone not wearing blue and white. I'll be rooting for him!
I always thought he needed overall strength, maybe 174 will do that.
Facundo I understand, but unless Spratley is going to 133, he's still a second fiddle.
I don't mean any shade towards Steen because he is what he is (and that's a hell of a lot more accomplished wrestler than I ever was...), but he's not an AA-level (or even NQ in the B1G) wrestler in D1. If he wants to compete as a top guy, he needed to transfer to D2. I guess he thinks he has a better shot at Ok St or maybe he just likes DT, but it would be a long road to relevance at any major school.
I don't think Spratley has anywhere to go. Hughes has looked like the real deal in the limited time he's been healthy.
Listening to Josh Barr on the Bo Nickel podcast, I believe Gary was Josh's room-mate (along with Sean Wang) when he moved to State College (I believe I'm recalling that correctly, but apologize if not). Josh learned a lot from Gary outside of wrestling, and really helped him with his grounding as a person. It must be crazy hectic with school and wrestling and the high expectations coming in. Maybe DT values this part of it, and getting additional culture changes at OkSU as much, or even more-so from GS for the year he has remaining. The PSU way seems to be getting better day-to-day all around, and that makes you a better wrestler. That was my guess, as I agree that GS is certainly blocked wrestling in duals by Spratley

Agree. He’s a great pickup for OkStprovided he isn’t sucked down to 157. Lockett is a top shelf recruit but don’t be surprised if Alex gives him everything he can handle. Congratulations @osufanatic4life!

Do you think it will be settled publicly at the Black Knight? I just have a hard time seeing Zack Ryder losing to Welsh.
Well that would be the procedure. But Brantt’s (who many doubted his credibility but has recently shown he’s super credible) statement being so absolute could have a very interesting meaning.
I doubt it. It's better for Ryder to have 3-4 good years as a starter at Penn State, than wrestle anywhere else.
