125: Suriano vs. Gilman

Per 1:
Lot of hand locking early, and a stalemate. Gilman with a reach, nothing. No shots thru 1 minute. Gilman in on a single at 1:30, has Suriano dancing and gets the TD, 0-2. Nick out in 12 sec, 1-2. Stalemate at 27 sec left. End

Per 2:
Nick takes down. Works up, Gilman covers well. Working back up, and back down. Nearly out, and out in 38 sec, 2-2. 1 min left. Nick with a shot, blocked. 30 sec left. End. RT at 50 sec for Gilman

Per 3:
Gilman takes down. Caution on Suriano. Gilman works up, and is out in 10 sec, 2-3. Suriano nearly had a leg, but blocked. 1:15 left. 1 min left. Gilman is effective with the tieups. Suriano in on a double, but sprawl/block, nothing. Double stall call with 29 sec left. Suriano reaches, nothing, drives in late but blocked, and that's a wrap.

2-3, Gilman

Iowa - 3, PSU - 0

Nuts. Just a tough matchup. Too much feeling out for Suri. Needs to open it up going forward - but a great match by him regardless. Solid gameplan but didn't work out

Gilman does not look unbeatable

Tell you what....I can't wait to see those two go again. Impressed as can be by Suriano!!! He battled...didn't look out of place at all!

The Iowans will scream bloody murder for stalling if a Penn Stater blocks like Gilman did for the majority of that match from neutral.

Loooottttttaaaa backing up in the third period for a guy that was mouthing off a week and a half ago about his opponents backing up.

Yeah. I've yet to see a guy push Suriano around the mat. Gilman certainly didn't tonight. Suriano was backing him up at the end of the third. Gilman is insanely tough, though.

Maybe best case scenario loss for Suriano. I think he showed Gilman more respect than he should've. Shoot earlier next time, he can scramble with Gilman.

Cody and Jake were on their feet at the end of the second? period. It looked to me like they saw a locked hands. I didn't notice, but did anyone see anything there?
