PSU - Wisconsin Match Thread

I assumed it was because his back was facing the mat but not touching since Cassars arm was under him... thus nothing touching the mat. Just a guess though...

I cant believe Bono did not say a word about stalling calls, Man was he mad at some of those calls.

I loved the energy that Bono and crew brought to Rec Hall

My friend was the official yesterday. During the match I texted him and asked where him and Bono were going to grab a bite to eat after the match. He actually said that Bono walked up to him afterwards and told him nice job which surprised me cause he looked pissed during the match.

Oh, crap, I meant to add to that and say that I would assume the 4" is why. If you watch the ref, he gives a hand motion that kind of indicates that the distance between the mat and Hiller's back is not within the criteria.
As I understand it, the 90 degrees is side to side, not butt to back. In other words, the nearfall rule is used, but instead of 45 degrees, the ref uses 90 for Neutral Danger Zone. The nearfall rule is; "Any part of one shoulder or scapula, or the head is touching the mat and the other shoulder or scapula is held at an angle of 45 degrees or less to the mat". Again, replace 45 with 90.

The other rule that could kick in, as noted, is the 4" rule, but both shoulders have to be within 4" of the mat, which they were not for the Cassar bout.

Why would Bono have been mad? Can't think of a single situation that didn't get called fairly or his way.

Speaking of crowd size, support, and impact, I caught a bit of the MSU v. tOSU match today and was surprised at all the empty seats. The venue looked 3/4 empty. I'm sure that's due in part to the opponent being the lowly Spartans. But geez, is it ever not standing room only at Rec Hall, regardless of opponent?
Many reasons....and they probably depend each individual....but i’ll give a few (not an exhaustive list)....as you pointed out the competition, it’s Columbus and there are many things to do and see in the city, many more people follow basketball (unlike us the bucknuts do have a program that makes the big dance), and unlike PA there are high schools in this state that don’t even field a wrestling team. I live in south central Ohio....Scioto County. There are about 10 high schools in this county and not a single one has a wrestling program...much to my chagrin.
