Gable's record doesn't count. Wins prior to the invention of wrestling cannot be considered.
Funny how it is assumed that a private institution would make a hire that would benefit the wrestling program at a state institution. And HR is the supposed center of all wacky conspiracies?
You understand that Coe is a private institution with absolutely no affiliation to the University of Iowa, a state school? A board that is responsible for hiring any administrator would not give two F's about Iowa's wrestling program.

Can't really compare Gable and Cael until Cael is allowed 2.5 scholarships more than anybody else for a decade or so. Then it would be an apple to an apple comparison.

I'm not so sure Cael doesn't have a few advantages of his own over most programs right now. And objectively, when Cael has more than 15 former wrestlers/assistants who become head coaches, then we can have an "apples to apples" comparison.
What would those advantages be? Sure can't be Penn State's ridiculously low tuition or it outstanding merit based financial aid packages. We will see what former wrestler's of Cael's become head coaches, too many of them are still competing. This may not be a good comparison for the simple fact that you can make a lot more money today coaching kids at the club level than you could 25 years ago. Somebody like a David Taylor might be content to coach kids and have some other business interests than get into college coaching.
If Gilman becomes a head coach, is he part of the Brands or Cael tree?
Let's wait until Cael has 21 or so years in as a head coach before we discuss and compare. Hes certainly on the right path to equaling or surpassing Gables coaching accomplishments by then and his coaching tree may be taking off by then as well.

If only some recruit’s Dad could help Cael understand recruiting,coaching, how to have a blast,etc. Maybe put it all in a binder for him. Then Cael would be unstoppable. Some coaches just need a guy, with a kid wrestling in HS,to explain the college wrestling landscape to them
