State Tourney Results this Weekend for All PSU Recruits

Psu fan (potential recruit?) Adam Busiello won a New York state title today!

That's correct. Here's a summary of how he did at the NYSPHSAA Div 1 State Championships, at 106:

R1: won by DQover David Traub (Tottenville)
Quarters: Pin at 4:21 over Alex Samson (Victor)
Semis: Pin at 3:21 over Michael Gonyea (Columbia)
Finals: 6-1 decision over Trey Wardlaw (East Ramapo)

Adam is a 9th grader.

Updated on Brian Friery

He lost in the Dist 4 AA 113 Finals, by a 9-0 major, to Alan Diltz (Benton)

As El-Jefe mentioned earlier, Diltz took 3rd last year at States at 106, and 5th this year at Powerade.

It appears that he'll be seeded 3rd in the NE Regional AA, so if he makes it to the finals of Regionals he may get another shot at Diltz.

Friery should finish 2nd or 3rd at regionals and qualify for states. He will face a stiff test in the regional semis -- JR Colin Pasone, brother of Appalachian State 133 starter Vito.

Interesting result at D11 AAA: East Stroudsburg FR 106 Patrick Gould beat defending state champ Tyson Klump 6-4.

Mild upset at WPIAL sectionals: Nino Bonaccorsi beat Austin Bell in tiebreakers. Both are nationally ranked. Bell is #1 in the state.

Mark Hall is a 6X State Champion!

In the final, he had a 16-1 TF at 2:50 over Austin Eichmann (Hastings)
Congrats to Mark Hall. Now get to PSU asap and get to the next level. Win multiple individual and team National Champion Ships. "WE ARE PENN STATE".

And the last result ...

AJ Nevills decisioned Adrian Godinez (Foothill), 13-6, in the finals.

For those taking a long view on recruiting, Seth "Big Snacks" Nevills won his final, 3-1.

That being said, after a 9-0 loss there's nothing to suggest that another shot would produce a different result.

D11 is a meat grinder at Districts. At NE Regionals they typically pulverize the other districts.
....though not so much at PIAA states lately (exception of Bethlehem Catholic)

Have to acknowledge District 7 WPIAL especially, and also District 3; perhaps D-11 is ready for a good showing this time?

NE AAA Regionals is not what it once was. D2 has always been weak -- but gargantuan in comparison to D12 (PHL schools). What used to be the toughest regional in the state is now little more than a pass-thru for the D11 qualifiers.

I think they are this year. Lookout for Klump/Gould, Chlebove, Karam, ,Sasso,Labriola, Jacobsen, Gunning. D-11 will crown state champs this year

I don't think it was ever the toughest regional in the state. I pretty much agree that D11 walks through D2...its always been that way. When I said meat grinder I meant from the perspective of the other districts. D11 is not as strong as it once was from a statewide perspective...maybe that changes a bit this year. There was a time they could/would match D7. Now D7 is as strong as ever AND they have 3 times as many schools as D11. How could they NOT dominate?
