The board is overlooking Ball State.

Listened to a podcast on my way to PSU and the hosts mentioned Ball St’s best defender is hurt and might be out for the game.

I don't know whether the forum is overlooking Ball State or not. One thing is clear. The board moderators have allowed the board to morph into an All Topics Are Fine board. It is no longer a Penn State football message board. Just take a look at the topic on the first page: 9/11, TV binge watching, vaccinations, Viagra, Restaurants in Fell's Point, Premier League, TV characters, grilling history, weekend jukebox, beauty queen polls, etc. This is no longer a Penn State football forum!
And all your Pitt posts.

I hope the team doesn’t overlook Ball State like the forum is. Zero discussion on Ball State all week despite them returning 20 of 22 starters. We should win yes- but let’s just jump to Auburn?
There’s been plenty of coverage & analysis of Ball State by the BWI staff on the premium board, which I believe is still free for awhile longer. Is there a ton of discussion, not really but enough considering who we’re playing IMO.

We are not looking past anyone. We need a couple of games for the offense to grasp new system and guys on defense to understand their assignments.

let’s go state

Ball State is for real. They could’ve been ranked and were a Bowl Team last year. I think Franklin knows it and the confidence coming off last week will be too much. I don’t think they cover the 22 pt spread though. Offense probably still needs a few weeks.

Not a bad post considering it’s never a bad idea to temper expectations around here so the Chicken Lils don’t cluck too much.

Damnit!!! I just got back from my daughter’s cross country meet and you’re right, I didn’t even think about Ball St. until I saw this topic. I hope my lack of focus doesn’t trickle down to the players, coaches, fans, etc……

Who cares if we cover the spread? If we win it is not going to matter by the end of the season

I'm optimistic but not that optimistic. IMO PSU should win by more than 2 scores but it will be a tight game if PSU turns the ball over.

Last week didn't give me a lot of confidence about our OL / running game. Last year we needed Clifford to get most of our yards on the ground. I know this isn't Wisconsin but PSU has to prove they can get a consistent 4-5 yards per carry. Even against a good MAC team.
Wisconsin DLine>>>>>>>>>>>Ball St DLine

Nobody. It’s simply a unit of measurement to compare against. I think we’re getting a little more credit than we deserve. 1 game is not enough of a runway to determine how good a team is gonna be IMO.

I take nothing for granted. Coming off the huge win against a tough opponent. Looking ahead to a marquis game against an SEC power. Classic scenario for a letdown.

Plus Ball State may be from a lesser conference, but they're not a team you can beat by just showing up...unlike Villanova in a couple weeks.

That said, if we're focused, D sets the tone again, and we win with room to spare.

I think the Balls were a decent opponent. They had better than average QB and solid secondary.
They had the right defensive game plan in terms of denying big plays in the passing game, but I think we missed on a pair of throws that could have been TD ‘s.
PSU did not turn the ball over, again, while our defense forced two and got a defensive TD off of one.
In the end, the Balls were waxed.

Someone is going to trip this team up. Clifford will eventually turn the ball over too much or the defense is going to have a bad game. But it will take a pretty good team to make that happen and ball state never looked to be that kind of team coming into this one.

Thanks for the input Eeyore. LMAO [insert eyeroll]

I’m eating crow and loving it. No overlooking the BSU today. Came out looking sharp. Defense swarms. Still not comfortable with OL play. Where is Lovett? We need some RB speed to go with Cain and Lee. Good to see Roberson in there. Thought it should have been earlier but... not much else to nit pick. Great day all around. A very good win leading up to the White Out.

If I'd have known Ball State was going to upset the board 6-4, I certainly would've been more focused on them during the week. Lesson learned.
