Thread to follow PSU recruits at PA States

Heck of a day 2 at States.

Great job El-Jefe, clucas, and others.

Killing me that after following this stuff so closely all season, I have to miss all of Saturday's action. Appears that El-Jefe is in a similar predicament.

To reiterate what I posted earlier -- I won't be able to update the OP tomorrow. I'm hoping that several of you will post updates on how our verbals, and the wrestlers of interest, do in their bouts tomorrow. I'll be checking this thread a few times tomorrow to see how those guys are doing.

Pletcher 2-1 over Sasso on a penalty point. Sasso pushed a lot of the action and got deep on a single at the end of the 3rd, but couldn't convert as Pletcher did the splits and wriggled out of bounds.
If Jimmy wins the state title, Willie might promote him to brother.

Seriously, Jimmy has already beaten Karam 3x in the past month: 3-0 in the dual, 6-0 at D11s, 4-1 at NE Regionals.

Jimmy won't beat Hidlay on any night

Austin Desanto (Exeter Township) defeats Hunter Baxter (Pine Richland), tech fall 26-11.

Desanto was undefeated coming in, plus now with 2 techs and a major in the state tournament. Can he hang with Spencer Lee?

Not necessarily. It's been his first choice since he was young training at FLWC. Idolizes Dake. Yianni D going there solidified it.
Ok cool I got you. Yea and I just checked in with someone else who says Cornell is the school of interest. Makes sense. Lehigh has been mentioned a couple times too though.

Jake Jakobsen (Stroudsburg) defeats Joe Doyle (Council Rock South), 12-3

Drew Phipps (Norwin) defeats Dylan Harr (Governor Mifflin), 5-1

A couple quick thoughts while The Boss finishes packing:

DeSanto is very good and would be the odds-on favorite many years. Can he hang with Spencer Lee? The real question is: for how many minutes? I'm guessing 4 or less. Sasso lasted 2:38 last year.

Speaking of Sasso, he is absolutely laying waste to the consolations. That doesn't always happen after a disappointing loss. Good for him.

Sasso is hungry and motivated. Love the fire. I like his college career ceiling more than Pletcher.

DeSanto won't back down and will try to wrestle which probably finds him making it through the first period but Lee is so relentless the smallest mistake will show him lights.

Andrew Gunning (Liberty) defeats Isaac Reid (Kiski), 4-2

Tommy Killoran (Boyertown) defeats Niko Camacho (Beth. Cath.), 3-1

DeSanto vs Lee will show the difference between being a great high school wrestler and being an elite world class wrestler. I agree that most years Desanto is the man, just some bad luck with this matchup.

District 11 showing up, yowzaaa

No doubt. District 11 has 10 kids in the finals and 4 others list I. The semi's. District 11 was down the past couple of years and they have a ton of studs in the middle school programs.

Couldn't agree more. Sasso's ceiling is way higher. Pletcher is a senior and Sasso is just a sophomore. Cael needs to make his way to district 11. Sasso and Chlebove are both unreal. Fidelibus made it to the finals and Sasso TF him at regionals.

I would love to get Sasso to PSU. I saw the Plutcher match. Sasso should have won the match. He is going to be very SPECIAL in college. 10th grader but schools are talking to his coach now. I hope Cael is one of them. I want Ruth and Sasso really bad when looking at younger guys. Ruth is going to be like his brother and get better and better every year until he becomes just a freak of nature....He is already built exactly like him. Just needs a good coach....

Great job on the semis, clucas.

tough semis for Council Rock South.

great semis for D11.

Anybody that has any questions about Spencer Lee is kidding themselves.

Keep up the good work on the finals, guys.

Brian Courtney -- state champ! Watching it from a brewery in Athens. Place is packed full but dead silent until he got the win. Then it erupted. Good for Brian
