Excuse my ignorance but U23 is the level after Juniors right? I could be wrong but it doesn't seem as popularly pursued as juniors, seems like a lot of guys just go right to seniors after their junior days.
Either way, Brady looked fantastic this weekend with a full gas tank. Seeing him compete at 14 pounds higher than what he was wrestling at last season is pretty telling. I fully expect him to be a lot better at 157 next year but perhaps he will be at his best at 165 one day when VJ graduates.

U23's didn't start until 2017, so it's not as popular, yet. (And, who knows if it will be?)

Blasphemy! I look forward to seeing what Berge can do at 157 - he sure had more energy today - but I’ll miss everything about Nolf’s wrestling, from his unrelenting pace and constant offense to the way he laid down his ankle bands. Kid was an absolute joy to watch.
So impressed with Howard,love watching his fearless style.

You like the idea of getting kids to skip their senior year....Homecoming, School dances, Friends, Prom, family.. etc.?? Awfully sporting of you. Not everyone wants to miss/skip those experiences. Staying at home worked pretty well for Zain, Nolf, Nickal, Cenzo, Cassar, Taylor, Ruth and others. Just Sayin'
I Say more of the Cassar effect than the Singletary effect

Besides Cenzo,every one of those boys were recruited at least 5 years ago, times are changin folks. Im glad the option is available for kids who may actually WANT to do it. Wont hold it against any who doesnt though.

Skipping out on HS seems odd to me personally but I understand why kids/families do it.
Would seem to me every case/kid/situation is different and so.....

I wonder if Berge is going for sure? I saw the interview with Chaz Tucker and he said he’s not going. The timing is just not great for kids in college. I haven’t watched Berge’s interview yet so maybe he says what his plans are. Anyone know?

One family in the entire sport doing it does not mean the times are changing. Just like the Rogers family moving to Stillwater while Chandler was still in HS did not.
None of our other more recent recruits have valued it, including non-residents RBY and Brooks.
It's one more option that has had extremely limited appeal to the athletes. Significantly less appeal statistically than ROTC. But it sounds great to the fans!
1. There was a Rylan Rogers in what looked like a WA singlet, but registered under Blair... related to the same Rogers family?
2. I see both sides. Man, sometimes, these kids don't have what they need at home. I got a club kid from my hometown that had an opportunity to move out to NMU early, forgoing his senior year. He was head and shoulders the best wrestler on my hometown's team. He loved his coaches. He didn't want to "let us down" and "miss out on the HS experience". I pushed him to take the plunge, if his goals are really in Greco, but he didn't bite. It isn't for everyone. It's tough for us to find him legitimate partners within reach in our little area of the state of MN, with great Greco roots. Every kid is different, is the big key. I wouldn't have nudged most kids to leave early, but I completely understand it for some.
Good Lord, man! Focus on the important stuff, like what the fans want to see.
In my opinion, most wrestlers will be donating away one kidney to save a third of a pound at weigh ins.

I used to by a pro photographer and shot a bunch of catalogs, including the FAO Schwarz toy catalog, which involved a lot of casting and shooting of children of various ages. Many of the kids who showed up for casting were the same kids who went to Broadway, TV, film castings. I always thought that the demands of some of these projects robbed kids of ordinary childhoods, because you could see it reflected in their attitudes. For the most part it was the parents who wanted it, not the kids. I've seen the same dynamic on the sidelines of youth sports events when I'm watching one of my nephews play. But every so often at these shoots there'd be a kid who was genuinely born to perform and be on camera. But he/she was the exception to the rule. So I get what you're saying. There are occasions where the kid is so naturally inclined to excel at something and happy doing it that depriving him/her of those opportunities is the wrong choice. But again, exception, not the rule.
Our kid decided ,with her counselor , to be on pace to graduate early from high school. We did not know she was going to do this. We let her know that she could always change her mind.
Kids these days.

She will play her Sr year and graduate in Dec. That's her plan. She said she knew she was doing this since beginning 7th grade. "Well Daddy, Connor McGovern did it"
If there was a dislike button, I would use it here. And that has nothing to do with Berge.
Good for her. HS isn’t for everyone. It can be toxic.
