US Open Thread

As the dust settles on the first session kudos to our guys. With exception of Nico and Conway who are awesome and will have their day our kids and grown men closed. It was a hectic morning with FLO glitching constantly while once in a lifetime matches were going down on multiple mats but we are heading into the senior semis and the junior quarters looking like the team that WE ARE.

SIAP I was looking at the brackets of the Juniors and Mark Hall could face Marinelli (Iowa) or McFadden (VT) in the finals, which could at least be an interesting match. The Hidlays are in the top half with Mark, if they both keep winning he would face them back to back.

Flo worked fine for me the entire day and I watched all day. Maybe one match I got the little refreshing icon for about 2 seconds and that was it. Shit, my ESPN app on ROKU regularly sticks - last night during the draft it was very choppy.

I suspect most problems that are complained about are at the consumer end.

A quick tip - if you are having problems streaming switch from the "auto" resolution to a fixed resolution (HD bottom on lower right). Start at the lowest resolution and work your way up - when you start having issues again, go one down. Most likely your internet connection is too slow to keep up - no matter what Comcast claims your speed is.

Downey's twitter following the match:

"Taylor was fresher"

"Avery and Renda tired him out because they were strong guys"

"He's just wrestling himself into shape now"

And the best for last:

*No excuses. Just the facts"

Maybe if he didn't spend so much time on twitter and focused on resting between matches, he wouldn't have tired himself out to the tune of a 10-0 TF in under 2 minutes.

Downey's a good wrestler but he could've woken DT out of a dead sleep and still wouldn't have scored a point on him. And DT might as well have been warming up for the concern he showed Downey. Match was boring.

It's kinda crazy how our cadets are wrestling right next door to junior and seniors but are using track and it works relatively fine but good luck trying to get Flo to work. Missed several PSU matches today trying to follow with Flo

Hall 10-0 in about a minute over a Hidlay ( a beast) to move on to the semis
P.S. Mark wraps things up with a head pinch from standing for four that you want to see. Gave not seen a better move in the Open so far.

Steveson is so nimble for his size; not missing a beat up at the Jr. level. Reminds me of Snyder with how he dominates guys despite giving up weight.

Is Nico done now ? Or can he wrestle back ?

Both Hidlays are very good young wrestlers. Especially Hayden...Trent is not far behind....

10:30 Eastern Time for the start of next Sr. Freestyle session? Anyone interpret that miserable wreck of a schedule of events any differently?

You can't be serious. Everything in the world streams perfectly and if you have flo issue's it's on your end and you need to go to 1024x768 on your hd tv. Get a grip.

Only someone who does not have Comcast would say that. Whatever one thinks of Flo, Comcast is far worse, charges a lot more for it, and reminds you constantly how awesome they are.

Couple observations concerning Halls tech of Trent Hidlay.
1) The throw at the end is epic
2) Mark described his season as hectic and emotionally draining. With the addition of an eleven pound cut I was curious about the mental state Mark would bring to a situation that was more warm bodies to wrestle new moves to try and new feels to face then a mountain to climb. The kid has his game face on completely. He seems if anything more focused and confident than during the folkstyle season.
3) This kid has the kind of long term marathon focus that senior level success stories say you need to have.

I agree. I have comcast and stream Amazon Prime with zero issues. I always seem to have an issue when streaming Flo.
