Running late ?

Was just about to post same thing. I would have to think things are just running late. Stands look to be pretty full as if everyone is waiting.

Nolf & Bo were awesome-- wrestled their usual balls to the wall for full 6 minutes and had their opponents running away at the end.

Bummed to miss out on DT / Bo & Frank / Zain

So, there's a few ways to look at that...
1. Zain's shot initiated. 4 exposure Zain.
2. Oliver initiated his counter throw. Zain didn't expose *in my opinion, but correct throw gives him 2 JO.
3. Oliver stops Zain's attack, re-directs with counter attack, feet to back exposure 4-0 JO.

What makes it extremely hard is Zain didn't hold onto the leg, which is how they sorta decide those calls. I'm not certain that Zain ever exposed. Certainly didn't land in danger.
I talk with refs too much.

I'm struggling here! I've been involved as a wrestler or a coach in this sport for the last 24 years and I've competed and coached in all 3 styles...I just don't see how Oliver, Green, and Perry come out as winners. Because of freestyle rules and scoring, I truly believe the better "wrestler" lost in all 3 of these matches. Probably sounds like sour grapes as a PSU fan, and certainly I'd need to watch those matches again (beyond just my initial live viewing) to truly form an opinion, but I don't feel good about who won those matches!

I actually like Oliver and Green by the way, so it's not a complete bias here. I just hate freestyle rules! I like the push out, I like the "idea" of big throws and back exposures gaining more points, but there's some jacked up things that need tweaked to get me on board with Freestyle as the main style!

Tomorrow I'll rewatch some of these matches (after I have had time to cool down and not have a few beers in me) and maybe I'll see some things differently. I'll still watch freestyle as it's the international style, but I DO NOT like it!

Rant over...Go DT, Frank, our JR studs, and our SRs in the wrestle backs - good luck guys!

Watched it a few times, I don't see exposure. And if this comes under the correct throw rule then I have to ask why bother with ever determining exposure if Almost is the new standard. Horseshoes, hand grenades, and correct throws.

I have tried to like freestyle. But results are often arbitrary and, on the international scene, sometimes corrupt. The sport is basically unfathomable. Most times the commentators have no idea why a particular situation was scored as it was.

The Zain match is a typical example of what makes it so hard to have any understanding of what is going on. I guess he lost on a caution and 2 and an "exposure". But to my apparently untrained eye, Oliver won without a single successful wrestling maneuver and then paraded around like he had dominated the match.

Counter attacks for exposure when PSU guys are creative scramblers that can lead to their hips being easier to lift///direct in a re-attack for cheap points.

You have to have high percentage stuff when attacking. If not, you'll pay. Snyder tweeted out earlier something like "If you want to get bettter at wrestling, shoot. If you want to win matches, don't shoot." I wouldn't go directly to that narrative, but the less scrambling and higher-percentage finishing attacks will lead to more wins.

You gotta pick your spots. While we love watching shot after shot after shot, it isn't alway advantageous. They're getting better at making that more advantageous, but you have to have a high-percentage FINISH rate with no counters.

Try coaching this shit with high school kids, and being an uppity SOB like me. I feel ya'll, but it's something you learn to navigate.

Correct throw does suck. However, it positively reinforces action. Oliver had to have the balls to hit that. We see it as "Zain initiated the shot, he should be rewarded." That makes sense. However, Oliver attempted to score off a stopped motion. A correct throw was probably the right call there.
