Which game in Penn State history do you wish you attended?

For a non NC game the Texas game is a great pick. How sweet would it of been to watch Penn State, the non-respected team from the East, shut down Texas' vaunted "unstoppable" Wishbone offense in The Cotton Bowl in their home state a year after they were given a national championship instead of a better Penn State team.

This one game has always gnawed at me. Go back and look at the rosters and it's apparent we were bigger (and judging by the nfl) stronger and better. Joe easily figured out the wishbone 2 years later in his 30-6 killing of the steer... it would have been even easier 2 years earlier with Reid and company. This had 17-3 written all over it. MNC, Nittany Lions. And ez at that.

2005 OSU- Was in school in TN and my dad showed up randomly. Took me to Sams and spent $1,000 on groceries (lasted 2 damn semesters) Sat morning then told me to invite "a couple" friends over for a cookout. Well it turned into kegs and overall probably the party of the year. the game was on, and there were probably 40 people in my house and we were the only 2 pro PSU.

The game ended and the music cranked up. My dad went to bed and the party went on. People coming over that I've never seen and nobody else recognized.

Ended up across campus at some chicks apartment (disastrous). Didn't even see my dad the next morning.

2016 OSU- Girlfriends step in-laws roommates best friends son was getting married, and I had to attend.

I intercepted and saw the date on the save the date letter; promptly discarded.

Then the actual invite came. I signed as regretfully declined and took it straight to the mailbox.
Then the facebook took over..
"OMG YOURE NOT COMING???"

Game over.

Then a whole bunch of BS happened between the ladyfriend and the closest to the not so close people, and then the married to be had to seek counseling like 2 weeks before the day...

I still ended up going and drinking terrible whiskey and a blah dinner then got the F out. Watched the first offensive possession for both teams then made it home. Luckily it wasn't far from home.

Then victory ensued and celebration was had, and then MY bed was just steps away.

Probably the PSU-KU 15-14 game followed closely by the PSU-Miami 14-10 / PSU - Georgia 27-23 games.

Joes last game. I blew it off due to weather. I clearly screwed up.

I left at halftime. I was frozen. Sat in NJU with my feet in snow; one of the few games I attended by myself. Walked home to find my wife and young son making a snowman in the yard. Just a weird day. I still have 4 tickets though. I see on eBay somebody wants $150 apiece for them.

1. Girlfriend's
2. Step in-laws'
3. Roommates'
4. Best Friends'
5. Son

You are either expanding the already attenuated relationship to get the point across (which is funny) or that would make this the wedding of: the Son of the Best Friends of the Roommates of your Girlfriend's Step In-laws (which would raise the question of WTF?)

[Side Note: still trying to get my head around the fact that your girlfriend has "in-laws", let alone step in-laws].

Either way big credit for getting ahead of this with the save the date early. Too often people realize it only when the invite comes, which is too late since the save the date has already arrived. Although it didn't work out, you definitely had a fighting chance. Damn Zuckerberg.

This is the way to have handled this:

Friday before game: "Honey, I love you, but I think we are going too fast and I just need a break. Give me some time to get some things straight in my head."

Saturday: No contact.

Sunday: "Honey, I had some time to think it through. You are an amazing woman, and I am lucky to have you in my life. I feel more complete with you here." Pause to allow her to weep and so you can put your arms around her. Follow that with "So, how was the wedding?"

Ro with some epic relationship advice here!

Not a PSU game, but Bear Bryant's last game. He is to Alabama what Paterno is to PSU, both liked and respected one another. IMHO it is one of the reasons Alabama fans and PSU fans get along. Wish we would play them again.

Joe figured out the wishbone in 1969 against WVU. They were leading the nation (i think) in rushing and just got manhandled.

He must have forgotten all that he figured out about the wishbone for the 1979 Sugar Bowl.

My son's a Texas-ex (alum). When he watches the '69 highlight show on the Longhorn Network, I always tell him that Texas was the 2nd best team in the country. Mike Reid vs. James Street. Ouch! Poor Street.

Texas can mistakenly believe they were the best team in the country but the '69 defense had Reid (Outland trophy winner), Smear, Onkotz and Ham. Our running backs were Charlie Pittman, Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris.

Following up on a post that asked what were your top 10 Penn State games you attended I thought I'd ask, "Which game in Penn State history do you wish you attended but for whatever reason did not?"

For me the 1982 Sugar Bowl versus Georgia.
Me too

Was going my sophomore but got mono in november

Outside of the obvious answer of the two national championships, I'd say Notre Dame 1990. Would have loved to have been in South Bend to watch us knock off the #1 team in the country at their place (especially with how good of a game it was).
Almost broke my then GF (now wife) ribs when we scored (watching with our alumni club on tv, tho)....

You know what is interesting, after the Ohio State game this year, a lot of us were saying it was important but not as important as 2005.
Lots of chips still to fall, but it could very well end up being far more important! What a difference a month makes!

We basically put OSU in a position where they have to help us get into the BIG championship!

that being said

Rutgers, Rutgers, Rutgers!
