Reactions: PSU Yinzer
Why couldn't USA Wrestling have structured their Olympic qualifying events in advance of the trials in the preseason? How many of you would be pissed off if the NFL combine was held in October and one quarter of the team opted out of PSU/Iowa to attend the combine. I have tickets to all PSU matches, attend the Big Tens and NCAA's every year and go on numerous PSWC bus trips and I for one think this year stinks. Someone like Cassar getting hurt just tops that off.

Agree, completely ridiculous to participate in this. Makes no sense.

The backups at PSU practice just as long and hard as the starters. Many of the starters are close friends and game-play partners. I have no doubt they really enjoy watching these unsung teammates go out and win some matches. I would guarantee they all see today as a fun team building event before they leave for Christmas. I would bet large that the trip up and back was a blast for all involved. Just the opposite of ridiculous I say.

You should demand your money back. There is no way you could have predicted such egregious scheduling. In fact, you should sue for emotional distress, pain & suffering, and just plain disrespect for your hard-earned fandom.

This plus the complaints are emotional and unthinking. The Scuffle was always off the table due to the US Open -- we couldn't register the team until we knew who was going to DFW, at which point too late for the Scuffle. And we all know Midlands has no room (plus is a re-run of the B10 schedule and B10 Tournament).

So when looking at open dates for the last available competition -- see LINK -- it came down to Wilkes today or F&M Open on 1/4 or neither. Those are the only choices.

I don't understand why the Open ruled out the Scuffle. Why couldn't PSU commit to the Scuffle and decide at a later date which wrestlers would participate?

If you were the Scuffle, you'd accept that?

From the PSU perspective: we were never going to send primarily bench guys with 1 or 2 starters -- it was always going to have to be primarily starters.

Even earlier this week, our US Open list wasn't completely set.

The kids get work with less of a chance of ..... Injury for the most part.

I think when we face lesser competition Cael gives each wrestler a plan of specific things to work on, postitions to test, etc
... Especially for our newer non-national championship kids. Wrestling the same dude in the room every day has it's limitations. I agree most of our guys won't really be tested at all but there is still value and this year is an abberation. The Black Knight invite was slightly better but neither is a CKLV, Midlands or Scuffle, but for certain Cael has thought this one out.
13 takedowns
Cael told Joe to work on takedowns.
