I hope Dan is still alive when Iowa gets another shot at one a decade from now.
I think @goethe14 is poking fun at Byers, who sometimes get more excited about calling those local boys' matches than the lions on the mat.
Still just amazed how Kerk consistently dominates Parris, Parris consistently dominates Cass (has majored Cass last 2 times they've wrestled) - yet Greg struggles with Cass. Very weird....
I thought the younger one lived near the edge of the mat.

Arena is just as full now as it has been Thursday and Friday. Maybe actually fuller.

The 3rd best wrestler in the country at 133, who should have been seeded 3rd, takes 3rd. What is next for ADS? I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him in the sport.

I would have. This is the formula that we've used to win 8 Titles under Cael. 5-6 Hammers that score tons of bonus. The true differentiation is how our guys perform on Friday Night. Our "competition" consistently falls by the wayside, and we just keep stacking W's.

But But Michigan blood rounds. Literally we were exactly where we hoped to be and people were complaining the whole time. Not like we have a coach who has perfected getting his top guys to perform like no one else when the lights are the brightest..
With Kemerer, Spencer and almost always DeSanto as the noted exceptions, that push for a stall call is an Iowa thing.
Gable taught it to art form. Drive to the edge, lower your stance and take a big, strong penetration step through your opponent to drive them off the mat. Gable would scream for a stall, Iowa fans would sing along "heeeeeesssss stttttaaaaallllliiiiinnnnnn" and after the second or third time a stall call went.
There is no artistry to the Brands method, just push someone OOBs and have TnT act the part of an idiot and the Iowa fans still sing along. Without the effort to keep it an art firm it isn't as effective.

I hope he is successful at whatever his next steps are. Lord knows his heart and passion will be in whatever he chooses.
My prediction is that Iowa won’t challenge for another NCAA title until after the Brands brother’s contract extension expires. By then they will be largely irrelevant to college wrestling.

I love being able to root for Iowa's PA kids. It means Iowa is again an afterthought and I usually want the PA kids to do well.
Where is Miles? Probably polishing the trophy that he was ready to award to Michigan during the middle of the first round.

Exactly. My two favorite sports to watch. And Sumo, but that's an entirely different animal.
Might have been if he didn't confuse older with heavier. The older one wrestled the entire match with Carter in the center.
Not since at Iowa, though he likely crossed the curtain more than a few times in practice.
Not sure if he did any in youth/HS -- @dicemen99 saw a lot more of him in those days, might know.
So how long before we are inundated with folks telling us how 5 decades ago there was this mighty, yet cheating, dynasty that was greater than what PSU currently has going on?

Iowa is going to become the Michigan state football of NCAA wrestling. Lineup is going to be filled with transfers every year.
