The Athletic: Wisky stopped recruiting home state players and now can't get them....

Wisconsin should get 80% of their OL and 50% of their DL from Wisconsin. Along with any stud athlete that plays other positions. 50% of their roster should be Wisconsin kids.....then add in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan along with a few national recruits. For an OL stud in Wisconsin to leave Wisconsin is something that should never happen. Happy that it has happened for PSU....we got a few really nice players.
Yeah, meanwhile, PSU got Wisconsin natives OL Donovan Harbour and Garrett Sexton in the 2024 Class, plus a portal transfer from the Wisconsin team in OL Nolan Rucci (who looks more comfortable with his regular playing time), and something unusual -- a really fast skill player from Wisconsin, Corey Smith also in the 2024 Class.

Thanks, Badger world.

Trump Can't Win LOL

Every Trump can't win Republican here won't sniff the White House going forward.
None of them knew how to fight and negotiate at Trump's level. Vance is going to be a heavy favor going forward.

As for the Democrats? They are facing some serious hard times, it's very early yet but if the economy is doing and international events are stable Vance will have a smooth road to travel.

And when you look at the electoral college map in 2032, it will heavily favor Republicans. I saw a projected map that would've placed 325 electoral college votes in Trump's column this year if the 2032 map was in place. This changes things such as that blue wall where it becomes somewhat less relevant. If the Republican gets North Carolina Georgia Florida Texas Nevada and Arizona they can't lose. However a good economy is going to put other states and play such as Virginia, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Minnesota. They will be the new swing states if things continue going well

Article - James Franklin Plays the Poverty Card in Previewing Oregon Vs Penn State

I think the article is a bit misleading as it is a bit of a stretch to say Franklin is insinuating Oregon has more resources and as such they are on top. He even praises Lanning in his actual comments. Interesting to me is that we may not be as NIL poor as I thought we were, but we are still not close to OSU: Texas #1, OSU #2, PSU #11 and Oregon # 20 per the article if they are sourcing and interpreting the data correctly.

Also, the writer's headline is a complete mischaracterization of what CJF said - this type of editorialization putting words into CJF's mouth is highly unprofessional and not "journalism" unless you count "tabloid journalism" as actual journalism.

Conference Championships

I see your point. I'm just going along with the projections. Playing the 11 or 12 is likely going to be better than the 8 or 9, and if it means getting non-Big 2 conference champions in the following round, that's even better.

At the end of the day, it's going to be a slugfest for whoever makes it to the title game and wins.
Whoever gets the bye has one less game to play. To me that’s the biggest thing for this. All the games will be tough so playing one less slugfest is an advantage

I disagree that the path at 5 or 6 is better than 1. We do not know the brackets first of all, or who will win the 1st round games.

But Buchanan is getting a year in "the best lightweight room in the country". ;)

I have Barr over Beard, btw. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Barr. It reminds me of when Mark Hall said Starocci was a future national champ during Starocci's redshirt year. Starocci put the same tag on Barr. I believe him.
We'll see this weekend, I hope. It certainly wouldn't shock me to see Barr ascend to that level since we've seen it so many times under Cael, but I haven't seen enough of him in big matches to be confident in it yet. I wasn't confident in Carter in his RSFR year until he actually beat Kem in the finals. Barr's and C-Star's RS years are remarkably similar, though.

I don't believe this information has to be disclosed, so unless there is voluntary disclosure - I'm not sure you can definitively know how everybody stacks up. Beyond that, anyone, or business, can give an NIL deal to an athlete - you don't have to go through an NIL cooperative/collective - so it's impossible to account for the total amount of NIL potentially available to any program (this is true for coaching compensation as well - private entities can give coaches $$$ outside their compensation from a University.

AJ Ferrari isn't a threat to do anything. The guy hasn't done any meaningful wrestling for 4 years (and he is NOT Steveson-caliber...) even if he's on the mat and not in jail by March.

Buchanan has looked good so far and may be the favorite for the title right now, but he's not unbeatable (although he did MD Beard last year...).
What a comedown from AB. Man, he demolished Buchanan.

That's quite a statement considering Ferrari and Buchanan are there.

Conference Championships

I think you have to break it down like this. Beginning of the years goals are:

1. National championship
2. Conference championship
3. Beat the blue blood(s) in our Conference

So far, we are 1-1 on #3, and we play Saturday for #2.

I'd love to beat Oregon and win Conference title #2 under JF. It's a big game and we need to start winning more of them. An inability to beat Oregon, while not the end all be all, is a poor indicator of having the ability to win the playoff.

While I understand the playoff path is better at 5 and 6, you have to play the game before you and deal with the consequences there after. I want to win every game here on. Conference, natty, all.
These playoffs have some interesting twists. They start on Dec 20 so a team that wins its conference championship game will wait three weeks before playing a game on the 27th. That’s a long time of not playing. Even after a one week bye in the middle of a season teams often come out a bit rusty.

But a team playing the first round….still has a two or three week wait…. would have to play more games against top caliber teams, risking injury and being wore down.

So it could be said that the team that wins its league title game is at a disadvantage in its first game but has the advantage in following games.

I'm good with this
Losing the CCG is the only one that doesn't end our season so the priority of it is way less
