In summary, the bowls game may be meaningful to the players, coaches, students, and fans, but they aren't meaningful to LandoComando, so they shouldn't be played.Competitors want to win at anything they do but that doesn't make it meaningful.
These are simply scrimmages to award teams that had good, mediocre or just not horrible years. It's a scrimmage. A nice trip where you get free stuff but the game itself is pointless and always has been aside from 2-3 bowls a year--sometimes one. That's why they're dying--thankfully. 40 years too late but thankfully.
I'm as big of a JoePa fan as anybody but he also had some out of control players. Remember LaVon Chisley?Penn State used to be different from most every other program but that was under a former regime. In fact that is why that loser from LSU dropped the hammer on Penn State when he was running the NCAA. He was embarrassed that Joepa could achieve success with honor while LSU and most others lied, cheated and stole their way to any so called success they were able to achieve. Funny how they tried to take Joe and Penn State down and we’re still standing while the NCAA circles the drain. Coach Franklin has done a good job balancing all the forces in the current environment of college football but nobody can achieve 100% success. As far as you’re concerned, your envy is the one thing that shines through loud and clear.
Well $500+/night for 2 night minimum hotel rooms doesn't help, and there are only so many of them anyway. So in order to enter the stadium one hour before kickoff (Gate B was horrible for UCLA), that means leaving the house no later than 8:00am for anyone with a 2 hour drive (IF traffic flows normally), and not getting home before 7:00pm-8:00pm. And God bless anyone who lives 3-5 hours away!
Later start times help with the flow of traffic and stadium entry.
I watched Carter get his ass kicked by Kemerer at Big Tens in 2021, that wasn't close and he turned around that result 2 weeks later.I liked the show today. Basch called Willie out a couple times and Willie explained his stance. Willie even said after week 2 the crystal ball might say something completely different. As far as Parker over Carter, I watched the match when Parker beat Carter. It wasn't close. Granted it was freestyle and when they were still in high school. I can't get that match out of my head.
As they say in the Godfather:
Won't see them no more.
it appears Pitt is not big on wrestling which makes no sense!the papers follow high schools more than Pitt!Pitt has easy access to 2 of the 3 biggest regional talent pools in the country, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. And they're in-state to the other (Lehigh Valley).
Then again, if demography truly were destiny, Rutgers and Illinois would be top 5 more years than not.
PSU has had more than a few 197 champs that were closer to 184!!I think the one thing you could defend with his Barr pick is Barr is not a natural 197. To my knowledge, he's never wrestled above 189, and he didn't look big at 189 this summer. To take it a step further, he makes a lot of his money finishing long, extended shots. Looked outstanding doing it this summer, but remember how he struggled a bit at that the previous summer as he was moving up weight. I could see him having some trouble finishing when he's making another weight jump.
To summarize, I don't think it's outrageous to be skeptical of a freshman wrestling above his natural weight.
It’s official now is in reference to the 23-24 schedule being announced.
I'm not talking about tax "rates". I'm talking about the amount of capital gains being distributed by mutual funds that will be subject to taxation. Those amounts could be double this year what they were last year.I thought the doubling of the capital gains tax would only occur if the D won the presidency and it would be targeted towards households with a million plus in income?
Totally reasonable! But not *every* talented freshman comes in and dominates for PSU, even if it seems like it. Sometimes it takes a couple years (see Facundo). Here's another, he's a Penn State upper weight training with the upperweight room (and coached by Cael) who just won World Silver and to make the team, showed he can make adjustments against an opponent who looked to have his number. He absolutely has the frame and all rumors are he's north of 200.
I think AB is significantly better than Starocci fwiw. I'd pick Starocci over Keck, but I think there's a much better chance of Keck beating him than Keck beating AB.I know wrestlers level up and improve, but Keck never came close to beating Aaron. I am confident Carter can beat him just the same.
On paper, Kerk is definitely right behind Carter, and with a weaker field. I was just talking about my personal optimism about Shayne. I think he wrecks the field this year, and is a Hodge finalist.IMO Kerk is our 2nd biggest favorite (or biggest favorite literally).
But agreed with the broader point that Happy Ness is flying under the radar when talking about likely champs. He's career undefeated against the field, including Henson and Parco.
I agree with most of what you said but I don't feel too bad for young people.OK, since Eduardo's no longer here, I'll play his role. Hell, somebody has to do it.
The reality of life in America's post-modern economy is that if you're heavily invested in equities, you're doing very well. However, if you don't have the resources to be heavily invested in equities, you're left getting by as well as you can...which may not be all that well.
You're likely not buying houses...not starting families...may be still living with your parents well into your 20s...may be holding down two jobs to get by...etc. I mean, there's a reason that polling shows 75% of the population thinks the country is on the wrong track.
I'm ballparking that maybe 20% (or less) of the population is thriving in what has become a system increasingly divided between haves and have-nots. For example, fed data last year showed that 10% of the population owned 93% of all stocks. It's to the point where a majority of the citizenry need no longer apply for membership in what was once quaintly called "The American Dream."
With the federal debt approaching $40 trillion, now almost $1 trillion of that being service on the debt, I don't think this situation is sustainable in the long-term or healthy in the short-term. In fact, we're one crisis away, whether it be domestic or international or a combination of the two, from a massive correction that may shake the system to its core.
At WVU -- no longer a good win, let alone signature win. Beat Illinois? Nope -- apparently not a significant win. Win at U$C? Nope. But Wisconsin wins at Rutgers -- THE SIGNATURE WIN OF THE CENTURY!
It’s official now is in reference to the 23-24 schedule being announced.a little bit confusing with a bolded "edit: it's official now" at the top of the thread
