What to expect from Wisconsin

Tengwall broke them down today on his podcast. Excellent work he does. They will run motion a lot, they like to throw to the backs also. I would expect some misdirection also because of the USC tape, although they don't have the same speed USC has.

The key will be the lbs to read their keys, and the pass rush getting home as often as possible defensively. Need to bring the running game also this week, and then complimentary football when it's available. They won't beat themselves but if that ball comes loose then get on it.

PSU-only Recruiting News

IDK if we're back in play for him, but putting this here because Correa did take an official to PSU before committing to Meatchicken.

If he flips to OKST -- and that seems possible as they'll need a HWT after 2026 -- then that's just one more reason to hate Michigan (for recruiting over him with Sahakian, who was committed to Arizona State when scUM came calling).

So Michigan watched Correa beat Sahakian at WNO and thought, “FULL COURT PRESS” on Sahakian? 🧐

Godwin Injury

The thing I don't get is why everyone's acting like the game was over ... it was a 10 point Ravens lead. Score a quick TD and onside kick and you have a shot to tie or win.

So, it was feasible they could make something happen. It's not like they were down 3 scores or something.

It's one of those crappy situations where you figure you're not going to win, but you're close enough that you simply can't just give up and call off the dogs. I don't think I've ever seen a team pack it in in that situation. TB had scored TDs in each of their previous 3 possessions.

It was not feasible with 13 seconds left in the game down 10 points and with no time outs to win the game.

Realistic impact on Bowl Games

The Bowl games will be like midweek MAC games, for TV only. The playoffs will make a lot of money but the bowl experience is over.
Attendance at most bowls has been way down for years. By the time the matchups are finalized - early December - it is very difficult and expensive to book flights. The local economies don't get the big influx of dollars that they used to. The bowls survive on TV revenue.

A lot of that has to do with becoming ultra-conservative inside of the 10, like with the first drive against USC. I'm a fan of the running game, but perhaps the staff should trust Allar to pass on first down inside of the 10 instead of the predictable run up the middle that gains one or two yards. If I recall, in the first drive against USC, we ran on first and second downs inside of the 10 and gained almost nothing.
As long as it's not the dreaded fade in the corner of the endzone.

Would you be happy with this bowl projection?

Can't they get rid of the bowls and just have a regular playoff?

Anyway...the most interesting part to me is that there will either PSU or OSU (those two most likely) will end up playing Oregon in a Big Ten Championship game. The one that doesn't might be better off. It will be interesting how the committee views a loss in a conference championship game. Say OSU beats Penn State, but loses to Oregon in CCG, will that drop OSU or keep them above PSU? Playing in the CCG will remove a "bye" weekend for the chance at a first-round bye.

It would make sense to eliminate the CCGs, but we all know that isn't happening. Too much $$. Just make it 16 teams and remove the byes.
It's a way to preserve the old bowl system, make those games relevant, and also get some new teams to them. I like it personally. Gives fans a warm sunny place to snag a mini vacation and catch the game.

I'd imagine the major bowls are big economic boosts to their cities. So that is maintained as well.

Realistic impact on Bowl Games

The NY6 bowls will be ok since they’re attached to the playoffs. I think the rest of the bowls may be in trouble.

The last few years they had few interesting matchups. Any small schools going to the lower to mid Boca Raton type bowls will be unchanged I think. Most of their players will play and they don’t really attract a lot of fans anyway.

The mid to upper (non NY6) type bowls will take a hit IMO. Teams that generally get selected to those games will have a lot of players sit out since they aren’t in the playoffs. I think fan interest will dwindle over time as a result.
