IMO PSU's season hangs on this game. Lost today and next week vs OSU and PSU could be on the outside looking in wrt playoffs. A win on Saturday night probably gives them a 75% change of making the playoffs.

I have the same feeling about this game as I did about USC: on paper we match up well and should handle them, but some intangibles could make it challenging.

Vegas makes us a 6.5-point favorite (versus 3.5 over USC). The FPI winning percentage is 70 (versus 48 against USC). If we do in fact bring our A game, we win. Anything less and we may find ourselves in a dogfight.

USC ended up being a 5-drink game for me, the 5th being celebratory. I'm hoping this one stays at 2-3...

Exactly. All he needed to do was refer to the official statement. No need for further comment. He just made the story about him and his perceived inability to comment on alleged rape. Bad PR advice.

This is obviously a black mark on Franklin's record here. He is accountable for all things that go on within the program. I understand it is difficult to control or be responsible for 100 football players and he can't be their babysitter but that doesn't get him off the hook.

You also have to look at Allen since these guys were on defense and the position coaches. What was missed if anything through their previous behavior? Were they good kids who made terrible decisions or were they "bad apples"?

We will wait for all the evidence and facts to come forward but this does not look good.

As for Joe and off field issues. He had them as well. The Chisley situation was horrible obviously, but not sure he had many major off the field issues back in the 70's and 80's when he was younger. Maybe he did and it was just kept quiet, who knows. Also, a different generation of players 40 years ago versus today.

In fine with the head coach not addressing it, sometimes Franklin can be too literal and thin skinned, the walking off the podium seemed sort of petulant and insensitive. He could have simply said "i won't discuss ongoing legal matters" and optics would have been fine. Him shuffling off just looks unprofessional to me. Just my .02

I can just hear on Sportscenter as they report about this and say "when asked about the situation, coach James Franklin went and cowered in the corner".

The media can ask anything they want. That is their job. I don't have a problem with that. Why don't they ask him..."Coach, you get paid almost $10 million a year, do you think with that salary you should beat Ohio State more than once every ten years?" LOL.

Guess we should just cancel the tOSU game since everyone seems to know the outcome. For those that have not learned to appreciate history. Remember 1912, 1964, 1980 and here it is 2016.

Maybe the smaller bowls could create their own tournament for the next 12 teams much like the NIT in basketball.

The last thing Franklin wants to do is start to attempt to answer questions about this. He would be just going down a never ending rabbit hole. The media would never stop and then start twisting his answers and drawing false conclusions. Also if he made any comments it would get plastered all over ESPN, etc and volleyed about by every talking head coast to coast. Horrible PR. It is a legal matter. The two accused are no longer affiliated with the Penn State football program nor the university.

Yes they CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. I won't be the blow hole on my knees begging for more is all I'm saying. If you're gonna listen to all thier demands of such then I guess on your knees is where you belong.

There is already enough greedretelling me what I have to do and what I have to pay. Nobody in ATHLETICS is gonna tell me I have to donate when I'm already paying what they ask. Cable gone, land line gone, pay cash as much as possible.
