Football James Franklin meets with very important donor

Small update here. Some of you may have seen a photo floating around but James Franklin recently met with Penn State graduate and Buffalo Bills / Sabres owner Terry Pegula. While I'm sure many topics were discussed, one top discussed was NIL.

It's an important meeting to say the least, while I don't expect Pegula to turn into some "cash cow" for the program, having a donor of his stature would be huge for the football program going forward from an NIL perspective.

Potentially one of the biggest developments in the history of the football program happened last weekend…

Franklin had a NIL related breakfast with Terry Pegula on Sunday morning, and the early feedback suggests CJF made a HUGE impre$$ion.

Getting Pegula to dish out millions towards the football program’s NIL fund would be a total program-changer. Like, it cannot be overstated how massive that would be.

Stay Tuned….

Shoutout to Happy Valley United for all their hard work!

Bets for B10s or NCAAs: Iowa wrestlers vs. PSU wrestlers or best podium finishes

Greetings gents,

First of all, congrats on an incredibly impressive season and best of luck at B10s and NCAAs. Also a special shout out to Starocci, hoping for a successful healing process so he's healthy for NCAAs.

And on to business...it's that time of the year again where I more often than not contribute to the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club. In fact I feel like family, receiving the NLWC email updates every couple of days and the "please donate" mailers every 4-5 weeks. LOL! I'm pretty much open to any realistic or even somewhat realistic bets, with proceeds going to the HWC or NLWC. Please pitch me some reasonable wagers for B10s and/or NCAAs,and lets get the party started. I'd love to at least have a few wagers so our wrestling clubs can get an extra buck or two from their devoted fan bases. I know it's a small piece but it all matters.

BTW, I'd be remiss if I didn't say how impressed I am by Mesenbrink. I had no doubt he would likely AA but the way he looks I think it's a very tight three-way battle for the gold between him, Carr and KOT. I know he's ranked below Hamiti and Ramirez but the way he buzz-sawed through Caliendo - and everyone else - pretty much tells me he will more than likely take out those two gents if/when he faces one or both in the semis or quarters at NCAAs. Davis has been pretty impressive as well, despite the slip against Caleb Smith. Barring a bad day I see him making the podium and in the process outperforming the other two standout freshmen, Stanich and Spratley. Like 65, 25 looks to be a great battle for the gold. Lastly I'm very impressed with Brooks' jump to 97 without missing a beat. He's clearly the class of the field by a mile and one of the frontrunners for the Hodge. Impressive!

Light off topic fare, the chipmunk logo

How do we feel about the chipmunk logo? Personal thoughts? I never liked it. I am not really old enough to remember when they started it(80s maybe?). It's just not fitting for a major college in my opinion. Others have big bold logos. Ohio State has the O, Michigan the block M, Miami has the U, USC has the Trojan logo, Oregon the sleek green O. And we have a tiny little chipmunk in a tiny little oval design, what the heck IS that and why do we keep it? Was it designed by someones nephew? 😂

Hey if you love it good for you but Penn State deserves a lion instead of a chipmunk 😂

OT: Murder in Scranton

Here's my latest post on a murder from 1867. Spoiler Alert - it wasn't the Scranton Strangler.

A man is convicted and then later acquitted. Does a courtroom outburst 30 years later reveal the real killer?

Senior Nuclear Deterrence Advisor wife caught with a teenager

Man, this would be tough to take. So this fella in Omaha uses the title, Deputy Director of Commander’s Action Group and Senior Nuclear Deterrence Advisor at United States Strategic Command. His wife gets caught naked with a 17 year old student and is being charged accordingly. LIfe comes at you fast.

OT: Has anyone else been paying attention to auto insurance premiums?

April 10, 2024, 6:29 PM EDT
By Rob Wile

Wednesday's inflation report showed consumer price growth continues to drift higher.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported price growth accelerated to 3.5% in March, from 3.2% in February.

Few categories had as big a jump year on year than auto insurance, which soared 22% from March 2023, the most significant year-on-year jump in that category since 1976.

And over the last few years, average auto insurance rates have surged 43%.

As of April, the national average cost of car insurance is $2,314 per year for full coverage and $644 per year for the bare minimum, according to Bankrate.

That works out to about $193 a month for full coverage and $54 for minimum coverage.

A host of factors determine how much insurance companies charge drivers, but the cost of nearly all of them seem to be increasing.
One major factor is simply the rising cost of modern vehicles themselves. Today, a new vehicle costs about $10,000 more than it did before the pandemic. Blame supply-chain issues that drove up the cost of vehicle parts, increased labor costs and customer demand, which has naturally pushed prices upward.

The increasing sophistication of the technology in today’s vehicles also contributes to rising costs, said Robert Passmore, department vice president of personal lines at American Property Casualty Insurance Association. Cameras and sensors, which are used for various driver-assistance technologies, like emergency braking, automated parking and blind-spot monitoring, require parts that are more expensive to replace. They're also subject to higher labor costs, Passmore said.

More complex and expensive repairs are also taking longer, and that shows up as higher vehicle costs, Passmore said. And worker shortages have resulted in higher pay for technicians.

FB Recruiting Three-star OL wowed by Blue-White Game atmosphere

Three-star OL Michael Gibbs wowed by atmosphere during Blue-White Game visit over the weekend.

Gibbs talks that and provides and update on his recruitment with Happy Valley Insider.

Watch J'Ven Williams

I caught crap from the typical, you're not at practice crowd, when I said Rucci and Donkoh should be our two starting OTs. Well I just rewatched focusing on Williams and he got beat by everyone including #95 a walk on DE. I sent 4 plays of Williams getting beat bad to Joe Pano and there were more than that. Shelton didn't play but he's not much better.

Two other players I noticed and focused on...Abdul Carter and Lyons at DE.

Carter's bread and butter is his quick burst and speed. He also has a great bend. But temper expectations because he was going against true freshman Eagan Boyer and other OTs buried on the depth chart. Carter needs to develop his hands better. He needs a rip, hand swipe, etc...HE CANNOT JUST RELY ON HIS SPEED. He's an undersized DE at 6-3 250lbs. He has to be able to not allow OTs to lock him up with their hands.

On the flip side, I honestly think Jameial Lyons is the best DE on the team. Lyons has great size and length at 6-5...250lbs. He also has a quick burst but has great hands. He's great at swiping the OTs hands away as he is blowing by him. If the OT can't get hands on the DE, then he cant block you. DDS has great size and good hands to, but doesn't have the burst and quicks as Lyons. I think Lyons has the best combo of size, speed/burst and hands of any DE on the team.

Oh yeah and Cooper Cousins will be the best center to ever play at PSU when he leaves. This dude needs to start. If not at center then one of the OG spots. He's a brick wall that cannot be penetrated.
