Closest Hodge competition ever?

Going into the tournament, Nolf is 26-0, Nickal is 25-0.

The team points they have scored per match are separated by nine one-hundredths of a point (5.24 for Bo, 5.15 for Jason)

Nickal has 15 pins. Nolf has 14 pins and a win by injury default.

Nickal only has two regular decision wins, but one was a fairly close two-point win in the Nebraska dual. Nolf has three regular decision wins but the closest was by six points.

Nolf is 6-0 with a pin, a tech fall, two major decisions, and two regular decisions against wrestlers ranked in Intermat's top 10. Nickal is 4-0 with two pins and two regular decisions.

I would give Bo a very slight edge at this point, but I think the Hodge is going to belong to whichever one has the most dominant run in Pittsburgh.

Has anyone here ever had a family member or friend have a stroke and go through recovery?

My mother is 92 and had a stroke yesterday. She was making lunch for my dad, brother, and son, when she suddenly froze in front of the stove. It was clear she was having a stroke and they called an ambulance and quickly got her to Paoli hospital. At that point she could not talk or move left side of her body. They then transferred her to Brynn Marr Hospital and had a neurosurgeon waiting who went in via cath and opened up the block

After the procedure, she was able to move all of her arms and legs, she said her name, and knew where she was. Unfortunately, I am out of the country and heading to the airport now.

Have any of you guys had experience with loved ones or friends going through strokes and the potential of full or a good recovery?

2019 B1G Championship Session 4 Thread

Please use it to discuss anything having to do with Session 4. If responding to other posts, please use the Quote function.

My expectation is to be available to do PBP for Session 4.

Time:
Wrestling is slated to begin at 4 pm EST

TV:
BTN, for those that have that as part of their cable subscription. In past years, BTN has primarily shown only the finals matches, but has switched to 3rd place match if the finals match ends early, or the 3rd place match takes quite long due to blood, injury, etc. (I'm pretty sure they won't go to a new weight class until all of the matches as the preceding weight class are completed.)

Video Streaming:
Those that have a BTN+ subscription should be able to stream the action on their computer.

Those that have a FloPro subscription should be able to stream the action on their computer.

Those that have a BTN+ subscription, but can't sit at their computer, should be able to watch the action on their SmartPhone, or other portable device via BTN2Go

Radio Streaming:
Byers' radio BPB coverage will be streamed for free, starting at 3:40 am EST, at this link:

https://gopsusports.com/watch/?Live=248

Team Scoring:
In general, the best place to follow the team score is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site, at:

https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org/

Mat Assignments:
FloArena has mat assignments. TrackWrestling has mat assignments on their Dashboard. Penn State Wrestling's twitter account (@pennstateWREST) also tweets out mat assignments.

OT: Favorite movies that no one's heard of.

Mine: Sansho the Bailiff (1954), directed by Kenji Mizoguchi.

Here's what they say about it in Wiki:

The New Yorker film critic Anthony Lane wrote in his September, 2006 profile on Mizoguchi, "I have seen Sansho only once, a decade ago, emerging from the cinema a broken man but calm in my conviction that I had never seen anything better; I have not dared watch it again, reluctant to ruin the spell, but also because the human heart was not designed to weather such an ordeal."[3] Writing for RogerEbert.com, Jim Emerson extolled the movie: "I don't believe there's ever been a greater motion picture in any language. This one sees life and memory as a creek flowing into a lake out into a river and to the sea."

2018-19 PSU Wrestling Video & Audio Stream Options

Hello fellow PSU Wrestling fans!

Please forgive the belated nature of this year's post. I have been travelling quite a bit and BTN2Go was late getting its schedule uploaded, but here it is:

Spreadsheet for Video & Streaming options this year => Click Here

Of special note this year:
* ESPN Radio 1450 does not offer a streaming option, so you will need to use broadcast or GoPSU for those matches

* I have made the assumption that FloPro will carry all of the BTN+ matches since that is what FloSports has said that their agreement is again this year, but the BTN+ events are not yet listed on FloPro

* The Indiana & Illinois matches are not currently showing up on the BTN+ schedule. I am assuming this is an oversight, but for now they remain the only duals not confirmed with video streaming.

* The Keystone Classic as of now does not seem to have a streaming option.

* There is a disconnect between the GoPSU listing & BTN+ regarding the Nebraska & Perdue matches. I have gone with the BTN+ view since it would better align to past streaming options.

OK, that is it for now... again, sorry it is so late. Be kind if you find errors, but if you do, let me know and I will get them corrected ASAP.

For the Glory...

OT: Breasts...

..pumping.

I took a new job about a month ago and have about 35 people reporting to me. One of them just returned to work from maternity leave and pumps during the day. Others (primarily women) are now complaining to me that they don't get a similar break.

WTF...I never imagined I'd ever have to deal with this kind of pettiness. One female complainer actually asked me what I thought was a reasonable time to perform a breast pumping .

Any suggestions?

OT: 31 Days of Oscar starts today, February 1 on TCM

http://prod-images.tcm.com/Microsites/31Days/31Days2019-Schedule.pdf

Nice setup. They’re pairing up films, “Dog Day Afternoon” with “Bonnie and Clyde,” “The French Connection” with “Taxi Driver,” “Tootsie” with “Victor/Victoria,” very creative and cool.

There are some really good films that TCM doesn’t show all that often, like “Atlantic City,” and “Midnight Express.”

For today, February 1, I’d say that if you haven’t seen “Sunrise,” you really should catch it when it’s on from 8-10pm. In my estimation it’s the second-best silent film ever, following “The Gold Rush.”

There are quite a few perhaps lesser known films, like “Sunrise,” that are really special, ones you would be glad to have caught, so as a public service I’ll give a head’s up when the time is right. Among these are “Bicycle Thieves,” “Holiday,” “Only Angels Have Wings,” and (last but not least) “My Favorite Year.” Trust your friend LionJim.

Maybe now I can sleep.

Top remaining recruiting targets for PSU?

In rank of priority - weight mapping is subjective

Class of 2020

1. Saunders - 149
2. Bartlett - 141
3. Ferrari - HWT (my weight assignment to go vs Seth)
4. Lee - 157

Class of 2021

1. Facundo - 165
2. Manville - 157
3. Herra-Rondon - 125
4. Mastrogiovani - 141 (will likely follow his brother)

I still think we will get at least 2 of 4 from the above 2020 class. What say you?

FC/OT: Anyone with experience navigating the private/independent school scene?

We're getting started for my daughter who will be in kindergarten next fall. She's been in a private pre-school since she was nine months old and her school is curriculum based and her current schedule includes daily Spanish, technology, art, music, and reading/writing/math lessons. This in addition to ballet, soccer, and a weekly science immersion course. Wife and I are considering private schools in the NoVa/DC area and have met with a consultant (who was very, very helpful) to discuss what may be a good a fit for our daughter, and what options are available (there are many). Was really interesting to learn how each of the schools we are considering emphasize different things - one was really 'whole student' based and made community/public service an emphasis; another was more technology focused/forward (an Apple Distinguished School) with an emphasis on classics in the upper school; others were more academically rigorous, etc.

We are a bit ahead of schedule since she can't take her WPPSI test until later this year, and right now we're sort of doing informal open house visits (with more formal interviews/visits set up for later on). Does anyone have any experience with the private school process in general or in NoVa/DC more specifically? Thoughts? Anyone have any children who did well/not so well? Obviously, the public schools in the area are all really well thought of but our preference is for private school if possible.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

125 - Let the Fireworks Begin

Four guys undefeated at their NCAA weight class in the same weight class prior to the post-season hasn't happened, to my knowledge, in many years. The post-season will be fun to watch...who, among this group will be last-man-standing?

Piccininni 28-0
Mueller 15-0
Rivera 22-1, with only loss at 133 moving up to face Micic
Arujau 23-1, with only loss at 133, and to a fellow Rig Red wrestler Chaz Tucker
Then there's Bresser 22-1, whose only loss is to Rivera in SV

OT: Dog Sh*t

If when you walk your dog in the park you pick up his shit in a plastic bag, good for you. But your job is not over. Put the bag in a trash can. Or take it home. Do not leave your bag of dog shit along the trail for the rest of us to admire. If you do not pick up your bag of dog shit, you are a bad human being. You are even a worse human being than a guy who drives a Miata with a slushbox.
Now thank you and don’t do it again.
