2017 NCAAs Session 3 Thread

Jimmy has looked night and day from B1Gs. Really happy the way he has wrestled. Would love for him to AA tonight

Well we know Jimmy can get in on those long, skinny legs of Jack. We'll see if he can do anything with it.

Great job, Jimmy!

At this point, the team scores are:

PSU - 74
Iowa - 57.5
Ohio St - 57.5
Ok. St. - 47
Cornell - 44.5
Mizzou - 43.5

and Jimmy can scramble well, which is Jacks game. I wouldnt put the house on a W, but certainly a beer I will.

Ashnaults had his number the last few times...it's gonna take a very strong effort & performance to beat Ashnault. Let's go Jimmy...

We should make a board rule that all complaining needs only to come in GIF or meme form

If he's wrestling Ashnault tomorrow in the Losers bracket semifinals that would be great!

Berger post match comments include statements to the tune of "I'm not scared of Nolf" "He's very beatable" "I'm gonna tire him out"

...
If he tries to come out like a madman he's gonna get stuck. It's his choice how he wants to lose. If Nolf converts early it's over early. Neutral defense is all that sets Berger apart.

The R4 Consolation matchups are:

Nick Nevills will face the winner of the Cody Crawford (Oregon St) - Ryan Solomon (Pitt) R3 Consolation match

Cutch will face the winner of the Aaron Studebaker (Nebraska) - Brad Johnson (Okla) R3 Consolation match

Gulibon will face #2 seed Kevin Jack (NC St)

Thoughts on Zain/Sorensen, Nolf/Berger, Hall/Valencia & Bo/Brooksmatch? Decision, Major etc?

I'm going Zain with a decision, Nolf with a major, Hall loses by decision & Bo by decision...

Certainly not a ton of points with that conso win to add to the team total, but nice to knock out Pletcher while Jimmy moves on! Could be a big swing in the overall team picture.

Very happy for Jimmy. I think he's a +3.5 underdog against Jack and would love nothing more than him getting another AA but if that was his last win as Lion - its a nice way to go out. Eliiminate a Buckeye and hometown PA kid, Solid tourney with solid point total for winning team.

141 Consolation R3: Gulibon vs. Luke Pletcher (Ohio State)

Jimmy's tough path continues

Per 1
Pletcher reaches, blocked. Ear to ear, tieups, etc. Nothing thru 1. Pletcher reaches, nothing. Then he shoots, blocks. Jimmy needs to be active. Jimmy with underhooks. Jimmy in on the right leg, switches to a double and gets the TD at 1:15, 2-0. OOB at 1:01. Pletcher with his hips out and he gets the esc, 2-1 at 56 sec. Not much thru last minute. End

Per 2
Gulbon takes bottom. He's to his feet, hips out, and gets the esc in 4 sec, 3-1. Jimmy shoots, is stuffed, nothing. Jimmy with a single and gets the TD, 5-1. Pletcher tried to roll out of it but nothing doiing. Jimmy riding well. RT goes over 1 min. Jimmy really controlling the left arm -- has it trapped. Releases it but has a tight waist going. End. RT at 1:27 for Jimmy

Per 3
Pletcher takes neutral. Pletcher slips behind and gets a TD, 5-3, and cuts him, 6-3. Jimmy in on the right leg, and he gets the TD, 8-3. Stall warning on Jimmy for hanging on to the lower leg at 42 sec. RT is locked. Pletcher is up and out, 8-4. Jimmy snaps down, in on the right leg, and gets the TD, 10-4. He's trying to turn him, but the period ends. With RT, it's a 11-4 win.

Jimmy advances to R4 of the Consolations!

That is simply OUTSTANDING! Way to go Jimmy!

Does he remember losing 15-7 in January? With a 6-1 disadvantage in takedowns?

Guess he has to say that though. Don't expect him to say, "Yeah, I expect to get pummeled by Nolf tonight." But we know he's thinking that.

I'm not saying that he has to say he's gonna get worked, hell, he should believe he can win. But when you get ragdolled and then come back and say "I could feel he was getting tired after the 6th time he took me down" competence comes to question.

Are we still the underdogs and "a 2nd or 3rd place trophy is ok"?

Don't turn the thread into an attack fest. Nobody wants to see your attacks.

I said it and I was damn right, just like I was about Mark Hall's redshirt.

Eat that.

Did we, or did we not have 8 scoring wrestlers? Just curious.

Also, how many more points has Mark Hall scored than Geno Morelli scored last year?

LMAO.

If Ryan puts Snyder out there on that mat with that injury, then he is officially a giant prick. He's already an asshole, but if he throws that man on that mat with that injury...
