2017 NCAAs Session 3 Thread

197 Quarter: Cutch vs. #4 seed Jared Haught (VT)

Another tough match for PSU in Session 3. Haught finished 6th last year.

Another situation where ESPNU isn't showing the mat where a PSUer is wrestling, but ESPN3 is.

Per 1
Nothing thru 1 min. Haught in on a deep single, Cutch dancing, down to the mat and grabs Haught's ankle but the TD is awarded, 0-2. Cuth up and out at 1:17, 1-2. RT at 18 sec. Haught in again on a single, and gets the TD, 1-4. End. RT at 34 for Haught

Per 2
Haught defers, and Cutch takes bottom. Cutch stands and is out in 6 sec, 2-4. Haught shoots on the left leg, reaches over for the right, and gets the TD, 2-6 as they go OOB with 1:02. Cutch gets a quick esc, 3-6. Just under 1 min left. End. RT at 49 sec for Haught

Per 3
Haught takes bottom. Haught to his feet, turns in, and is out, 3-7. Cutch needs some magic. Cutch tries to shoot on the right leg, stalemate. Cutch gets the right ankle, they scramble, Haught has the left ankle, and a stalemate at 42 sec. Cutch in on the ankle, a scramble, and a stalemate with 9 sec. End

Cutch loses 7-3

McCutcheon falls to the wrestlebacks after losing 7-3 to Haught of VT.

He'll wait to find out who he has tonight in the consis

So for us ignorant people, give me a football analogy. I have read this entire thread. To me, it looks like we are up 28-14 at halftime and OSU and Michigan are losing at halftime. Yes? Help me out here.

We have to keep winning

Nick got caught completely flat footed on that blast double. Same thing against Medberry at Wisconsin this year.

285 Quarters: Nevills vs. #4 seed Jacob Kasper (Duke)

Per 1
Kasper shoots a double from centerfield, and nearly gets it, but a nice sprawl by Nick, nothing. Lots of ear to ear, underhooks, etc. Nothing thru 2 min. Kasper shoots on the right leg, has a knee, they scramble, Nevills grabs a right knee, Nick trying to come up, they keep scrambling, and the period ends

Per 2
Kasper takes bottom. Nevills on right side. Kasper eventually gets out at 1:17, 0-1. Kasper drives in but they are OOB at 1:01. Stalemate with 25 sec. Kasper with a double, he's in deep, and he gets the TD, 0-3. End

Per 3
Nevills takes bottom. Working up, he's to his feet, and he's out, 1-3. 1:30 left. Nick needs a TD. 30 sec left. Nick tries a shot, nothing. Nevills tries a double from centerfield, nothing. End

PSU gets its 2nd loss in Session 3.

Not sure if Kasper's length bothered him, or what, but Nick had very little offense until the last 20 sec.

Nevills with the loss 3-1. Nick didn't really try to shoot all third period. Another strange match.

Nick hasn't looked right all tournament. Don't think that knee is doing well.

I don't know what that was, but it was not a great effort by Nick. No shots. Stood around almost all of the second period flat footed. Allowed Kasper to keep a hand on his head without defending it.

That's not the effort we've seen from Nick the whole year.

Kasper is super quick, obviously, but I'm not sure Nevills ever tried to take a shot. Damn.
I have faith him and Cutch can wrestleback well though.

Looks like Snyder pulled a rib muscle. He won 13-7, but was pressing into his rib cage while leaving the mat and looked in discomfort.
