2017 NCAAs Session 3 Thread

Agree on the "kill shot" comment with 1 of those guys winning and Nick has me a little concerned (hope it was just an off match, not physical issue).

5-2 in Quarters and 1-0 in Consis was pretty awesome though! Plus 2 majors, 2 pins and 1 Tech was icing on the cake!

Nobody has an easy road left - gonna be huge matches every time out!

PSU's matches tonight:

Semis
149: ZPain vs. #5 seed Brandon Sorensen (Iowa)

157: Nolf vs. #4 seed Tyler Berger (Nebraska)

165: Joseph vs. #2 seed Logan Massa (Michigan)

174: Mark Hall vs #1 seed Zahid Valencia (ASU)

184: Bo Nickal vs. #3 seed Sammy Brooks (Iowa)

Consolation matches can not be determined at this time. Jimmy has to win to make it to R4. Cutch and Nevills will wrestle someone that wins in R3

If it is a physical issue, he's officially injury prone. Foot, pectoral, knee?

I know Cutch beat him at Big Tens, but man do I hate the Studebaker matchup. Beazley is tough as well, but would have liked to see that one instead.

Volaro from Lehigh beats #6 seed Shaffer from Oklahoma state. Okie State is toast. Down to PSU vs. Ohio State

I heard Nevill's knee is banged up. I guess it happened at BIG's. Not using it as an excuse on why he lost, but it may play into "how" he wrestled.

Looks like Snyder pulled a rib muscle. He won 13-7, but was pressing into his rib cage while leaving the mat and looked in discomfort.
Pretty dumb move for the coaches to have Snyder choose down in the 3rd. Not only does that give up a MD but now he is injured. It's also the only chance any HWT has to beat Snyder... from on top. Why his opponents don't choose top against him in the first place is beyond me.

Berger post match comments include statements to the tune of "I'm not scared of Nolf" "He's very beatable" "I'm gonna tire him out"

...
Does he remember losing 15-7 in January? With a 6-1 disadvantage in takedowns?

Guess he has to say that though. Don't expect him to say, "Yeah, I expect to get pummeled by Nolf tonight." But we know he's thinking that.

Yeah something happened, not sure what.

Who knows, maybe it was a bit of a play on words when Cael said Monday, "You come out of a Big Ten tournament, you're going to have some nicks"

Interesting that at 165

An all Big Ten semifinalists - and neither match have been wrestled this year.

JG with a high crotch changed up to a double and the TD. 2-0 JG.

Pletcher out so 2-1 JG.

The first period will end with JG up 2-1 over Pletcher.

Pletcher defers and JG is down.

Jimmy out quickly so 3-1 JG in the second.

Jimmy with another HC (head outside single to a double) for a TD and it's 5-1. Jimmy wrestling like he has DirecTV right now.

End of 2 and it's 5-1 JG. Pletcher goes neutral.

Pletcher gets a quick TD and he cuts JG. 6-3. RT over 1 min for JG.

JG with a TD. 8-3. Announcer foolishly thinks JG was stalling.

JG ends up with a stall for dropping on the leg after that tD. Pletcher out now. 8-4 with RT.

JG with another tD 11-4 decision.

141 Consolation R3: Gulibon vs. Luke Pletcher (Ohio State)

Jimmy's tough path continues

Per 1
Pletcher reaches, blocked. Ear to ear, tieups, etc. Nothing thru 1. Pletcher reaches, nothing. Then he shoots, blocks. Jimmy needs to be active. Jimmy with underhooks. Jimmy in on the right leg, switches to a double and gets the TD at 1:15, 2-0. OOB at 1:01. Pletcher with his hips out and he gets the esc, 2-1 at 56 sec. Not much thru last minute. End

Per 2
Gulbon takes bottom. He's to his feet, hips out, and gets the esc in 4 sec, 3-1. Jimmy shoots, is stuffed, nothing. Jimmy with a single and gets the TD, 5-1. Pletcher tried to roll out of it but nothing doiing. Jimmy riding well. RT goes over 1 min. Jimmy really controlling the left arm -- has it trapped. Releases it but has a tight waist going. End. RT at 1:27 for Jimmy

Per 3
Pletcher takes neutral. Pletcher slips behind and gets a TD, 5-3, and cuts him, 6-3. Jimmy in on the right leg, and he gets the TD, 8-3. Stall warning on Jimmy for hanging on to the lower leg at 42 sec. RT is locked. Pletcher is up and out, 8-4. Jimmy snaps down, in on the right leg, and gets the TD, 10-4. He's trying to turn him, but the period ends. With RT, it's a 11-4 win.

Jimmy advances to R4 of the Consolations!
