2018-19 Sixers Thread

Wilson Chandler is a joke! This was a horrible sign by the Sixers

At least he kept the Sixers afloat down the stretch...Mike Muscala on the other hand...and did I miss Amir Johnson? This team made some mistakes this offseason and it shows against the top teams.

They can not get through to the next level as constructed. Embiid, and Butler are all star caliber....Simmons is not. Redick is the only other option. That stat on Simmons making 5 shots outside of the paint as opposed to 241 in the paint is indicative of why I’m not a Ben fan. He hasn’t improved in an important aspect of basketball since entering the league. Learn to shoot a jumper! Those garbage out of control layups he threw up towards the end had me screaming at the TV.

He is really physically weak as well. If you can’t shoot, you have to be strong enough to drive and take contact. He gets bullied a lot. And don’t even get me started on his inability to shoot free throws. He needs a two guard who can score on the floor to space things out since he can not create his own shots off the dribble in the half court. I see why they drafted Fultz. They really need him to get healthy.

Simmons without a shot is killing this team in spots like this so much. He's capable of doing it, he just doesn't want to. That's on the coach to get him to do that. The offense is a trainwreck late in games.

Was Fultz on the bench tonight? Thought I saw him at one timeout. That would be a positive ..

Yes he was there and so was Smith. But the real question is whether he will ever get off the bench. I’m guessing we see Zhaire Smith before Fultz ever returns. Brown said he needs to consult with Flultz’s medical staff concerning his status, and Fultz’s agent said he hopes he will be ready to play this year.

Yell at me but Simmons does hurt this team. He has absolutely no outside shot and free throws are a joke. When he was mentioned as the prince to Lebron and he was the next great one insult to Lebron. I would gladly take Leonard over Ben. As a person, I like the guy. He's not a Elite player like Embiid and Boston showed how to shut Ben down in the playoffs. This team is not playing good against the top teams at the moment and I hope Brand figures out the pieces we need to get on track.

Would anyone be surprised if Butler signed elsewhere when he hits the free agency market? Seems everywhere Jimmy goes issues soon develop over time. I was hoping this stop would be different not looking that way. Keep your fingers crossed for this one..

that was a concern of mine when the trade was made.

I think he's likely to resign, though to some extent that will be dependent on how the team does the rest of the season/playoffs, as well as $$/contract length that the team offers.

the Sixers still seem to need a few more pieces to make this year's team effective. Chicago traded Justin Holiday earlier this week to Memphis for Marshon Brooks and Wayne Seldes, and a couple of 2nd round future picks. He would have been a nice addition at SG/SF. He was actually with the Sixers at the end of the 2012-13 season, and played with the Sixers in the 2013 NBA Summer League. Alas, the Sixers waved him in August of that year. He's since been with Utah, Golden State, Atlanta, and Chicago, New York (Knicks) and back to Chicago before being traded.

Looks like the plan for the Mav’s 1 min in is...”whoever Furkan is guarding GIVE IT TO HIM!”

Sixers lead the NBA in attendance. I thought that The Process would drive all the fans away?

So...had to take a day to relax after that Hawks game. I think Ben is 100% right in that this team is soft in the defensive end. A question my other sixers friends and I have talked about...what do you about Butler? I don’t think things have gone as planned and it seems like it’s headed more to the “not working” side. I know they haven’t been together long but I thought they would have gelled better than they have. Read a report that recently Butler has told people he wants to go to the LA clippers to play with Khawi. So my question is...what do you do?

1) do everything to sign Butler to a max and keep the 3 as is and staff and figure it out.
2) try to sign Butler but not offer him the 5th year and see what happens leaving you $$ to sign another max if he bails.
3) trade Butler and get something while you can
4) sign Butler but bring in a new coach that can do something with these three in a different scheme.

Gonna be an interesting last couple of months with the trades and buyouts. Hoping they can figure this thing out.

Hey Tom.....are you sold on Brett Brown? Would like your thoughts on his effectiveness, etc.

Wow, big win 149-107 over a decent Timberwolves team

All 5 starters and 2 reserves in double figures; 83 points in first half! Nice to see an offensive explosion

They played very well and seemed to have a great game plan...should be the game plan they use in EVERY game all year. Feed Embiid in the post and let him get thing rolling and then expand with Simmons on drives and kick outs to the shooters on the wings/corners. The announcer commented on this several times throughout the game. When you have something no one else has you must use it and Embiid fits that bill, IMO he is very hard to stop down low and then can step out and hit 3's as well. Made 4 last night.

Probably can't expect Chandler to play as well as he did last night, but he looked real good for first time as a sixes. Adding another shooter or 2 either via trade or the buyout market will help, but the biggest thing to me is the offensive philosophy must be to get JoJo going in the paint early in the game every game.

I only was able to watch for a few minutes tonight, but Embiid looked to be in a lot of pain. Lower back?

he was questionable for the game, due to back pain. I don't think he started the game (not certain; didn't see the start).

He started but came in and out a lot. The thing I hate about Brown is they had about a 17 point lead with 4 to go and Embiid is still out there. Up 40 against the T Wolves, and he's still out there. Stupid.

With back pain sitting on the bench might be worse. It’s a shame they can’t just remove him from the game early and have him. go right to the locker room and begin therapy without having the media go insane.

Embiid questionable for the game tomorrow with back issues. Let's hope this isn't an ongoing issue. I'm not a medical expert but aren't back issues usually an ongoing problem? We really can't afford to have Jo Jo miss a lot of games. We are not deep with bench players and Center is an area that lacks with the team . Bolden has stepped up his game but Jo Jo is an elite player that we can't lose for an extended amount of time.

Sixers playing really good right now winning 5/6 including wins over Indiana, Houston, and San Antonio tonight. Only recent loss was against OKC.

All the talk in the media is that Harden or Giannis are the top MVP candidates right now .... how is Embiid not getting more attention?? He’s been unreal so far

..to further emphasize your point, I heard several media types discussing the best center in the NBA and said no question it was Nikola Jokic!! LOL...I was screaming at the TV that these people have no clue what they are talking about as Embiid is CLEARLY the best center in the NBA and he is only just beginning...as long as he can stay healthy.

Another nice win without the Butler beating a quality team. I hope Jimmy is back for the road trip to the west coast. Can't say enough what Brewer is doing to help out. This guy gives you all he has. I appreciate his play.

Ben Simmons finishes his game against the Spurs with 21 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds, making him the third-youngest player in league history to reach 20 triple-doubles, behind only Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.

As to your other point, the Sixers seem to be doing fine so far during this stretch of tough games. But they are actively looking for trades to strengthen their bench. When that happens, look out. Judge them by what they look like when the playoffs start.

I think the team has acquired a lot of bandwagon fans who don't appreciate what the team has gone through to get to this point. They are 15 games over .500 with their two best players being 24 and 22 years old. Calm the f*** down.
