2018-19 Sixers Thread

it will be interesting to see if/how long the Sixers can hang with the Warriors tonight.

Not long if they if they keep this turnover pace up...7 in the first 6 mins.

yeah, that was not pretty, but they seem to have broken out of the turnover funk.

the Warriors are the gold standard, so it's good to see how the Sixers compare. So far, my main concerns about the Sixers seem to be a factor in the game. The Sixers D is a weakness, and any time GSW drives to the bucket, and Embiid moves out to pick up the driver, nobody slides over to cover the player Embiid abandons. As for the Sixers O, they still seem to be short a threat or two. It doesn't help that Butler has yet to score with 3 minutes left in the 1st half. The Sixers are only down 4, so they aren't doing too bad.

60-53 at the half. GSW had a late run which gave them a nice lead. The Sixers with 13 turnovers in the 1st half -- not a number that winning teams usually have.

Curry with a 3, 110-104
Sixers with a turnover
GSW with a turnover
Reddick with a 3 for the Sixers, 113-104
Durant misses

Final. 113-104, Sixers. Wow. Thompson was out for the GSW, but that's an impressive win for the Sixers.

First win for the Sixers against GSW since 2013.

Trust the process

Huge win. Here’s why you have to love Embiid

He finished with 26 and 18 and said in the post game that he was terrible

Well you're up late.
Scary when GS started hitting 3s at the end. Sixers played some solid defense though and forced some uncharacteristic mistakes.
Great win!

Great job with the win. Embiid another incredible game along with Ben. I'll be glad when they make it to the East coast so I can stay up to finish the game.

"Brutal stretch". Denver loss they rested Embiid, Butler, Chandler.

I do love Embid and thought he was very impactful. But when shooting only 8/24, that percentage is not up to his standards.

Yep. And the OKC loss was a buzzer beater (incredible shot by Paul George).

This team is playing really well and the upside is tremendous because they are doing a lot of experimenting right now. That Boston game is key for the team's confidence. As good as the Sixers are, it's crucial that they go into the playoffs knowing that they can beat the Cs. It's a huge monkey on their backs right now. Corey Brewer has the attitude that you need to compete with the Cs. He might not fill the stat sheet in that game but he can annoy the hell out them.

exactly...Embiid played some bully ball last night as everybody knows the one small weakness of GSW is physicality. Set a tone out there that really helped GSW and got them out of their rhythmn.

Exactly the Sixers brought defense and toughness last night. They were swatting and rejecting balls everywhere and playing tough physical defense. They were bumping and pushing GS all over the place. They play like that and they will be a tough out in the playoffs. Will need a repeat performance when they play the Celtics to beat them.

Ben Simmons really brought it last night. He upped his game especially on D

a buddy told me there are rumors of the Sixers making a play for Nikola Mirotic .... anyone else hear/see this? would be a nice pick up!

Loved the block on a Curry 3 late in the 4th....It definitely sealed the deal at that point.

yeah, that was huge, especially the way Steph had been draining them for most of the night. In the previous minute or so, Curry had missed to the left on the 3, and I believe it was Simmons that escorted the ball out of bounds.

everybody on NOP is on the block right now. And Sixers are known to be looking to add at the trade deadline. So i think Brand is definetly talking to the NOP GM as is probably 10 other teams also. Heard Holiday rumors also.

He is certainly on the trading block. Sixers will be bidding against three or four other teams for his services. Maybe they can get Holiday in the deal as well.

Agree and agree again. I for one hope Brewer will still be on the team when we play the Cs. We will know that for sure shortly.

Sixers struggling against SAC. Why no Redick tonight?

Redick is being rested (no other info given by the Sixers). Wilson Chandler is 2-3 weeks with a right quad strain, which he injured in the game against the GSW.

Midway thru the 3rd quarter, team shooting 1/15 from three point line. Really miss these guys.

agreed. neither of them are all-stars, but they are solid players. With them being out, the Sixers are digging deeper into their bench, and their lack of talent is showing.

JoJo and Simmons are having solid games against the Kings. Their D, especially on 3-pters, is not so good tonight. Heild is lighten them up.

Butler's O has been missing of late, and that trend has continued tonight. He's making a number of nice assists, but without him making shots, the opponents have been able to sag against him, and focus on other Sixers.

Sixers just made back-to-back 3s, to cut it to 79-73.

and just like that, the Sixers claw back, and Butler finds some O. The Sixers take a 98-97 lead -- their 1st lead in the game since 2-0. A little over 4 min left in the game

Amazing they were even in this game given what pure shit everyone not named Joel, Ben, and Jimmy played like.

ugh, Sixers take a couple of poor shots in the last 2 minutes, and then forget to guard Heild outside the 3-line, and he burns them. Then the Kings get lucky on a heave from behind the basket that they end up out rebounding JoJo for, and are able to convert. Sixers down by 6 with 1 min left. But Butler answers with another 3, and Sixers trail by 3. Cauley-Stein goes 1 of 2 form the FT line, so Kings by 4. Then Butler misses a 3. Sixers have to foul, with 26 sec left, and unfortunately they foul Heild, who makes both -- 114-108, Kings, with 26.6 sec left. Butler misses another 3, and somehow Heild comes up with the rebound amongst the trees, and the Sixers have to foul him again (he's the Kings best FT shooter). He makes 1 of 2, so it's 115-108. JoJo misses a 3, and the Kings run out the clock for the win.

Sixers really need some help now that Chandler is hurt and with a bench that is thin. Should be interesting to see what Brand does if anything with the trade deadline coming. Keep your eyes crossed.

Interesting article on a trade that would push the Sixers forward. Would love to see this happen....

it is intriguing. Sixers would be giving up quite a bit, and their bench would be beyond thin.

the Sixers did not sign Brewer, so they must want to keep some space open for maneuvers before the trade deadline.

TNT is going with players only this week in the studio and on the telecast. Sounds like a train wreck to me. Three guys sitting around like they're watching the game at the local pub.
