Did KOT consider Penn State?Boy was that a rare misevaluation of talent from Cael. Even *I* got that one right haha

I think we tried to enter the conversation really late. I also don't think we necessarily picked Facundo over him either, Facundo was likely a 174 eventually.Did KOT consider Penn State?
Unfair to Chernobyl.Iowa City, the Chernobyl of the Plains.
Ryder and the Mirasola twins ... somebody doesn't fit in this scenario.Facundo or Mesenbrink ORS, Carter one more year. Then Facundo goes 174. Barr redshirts then 184. They all fit. Only one year sit would be if Carter came back for a 5th title.
Time to petition the NCAA for an additional weight class of 215 lbs, so we can add one more National champion to our lineup.Ryder and the Mirasola twins ... somebody doesn't fit in this scenario.
I was wondering how the heck Cael is going to get all these guys in the lineup. Maybe 184, 197 and 285, but then you have Barr unless he can go 174 for a few years. Crazy the talent that's coming in.Ryder and the Mirasola twins ... somebody doesn't fit in this scenario.
Nagao approaching Lord Spencer would probably elicit this type of response:And any unauthorized attempt to engage with HWC royalty will be met with an appropriate response from the staff.
Maybe some people aren't jumping off the train. Sometimes Cael will bring in someone and let them figure it out themselves (Dean/Beard).Those jumping off the Facundo train based upon last year's results, lack patience and trust in Cael's program. Many of the same have jumped back aboard the Bartlett train this year after having previously written him off. Up a weight,... yeah I know, yada, yada.
If Mesenbrink happens great, if it doesn't that just fine as well. There are no guarantees whatsoever that Messi comes in and can win a spot at either 157 or 165. I suspect Cael is telling him pretty much the same thing in a more sophisticated way.
Maybe his personality didn't fit. Cael doesn't look at just talentBoy was that a rare misevaluation of talent from Cael. Even *I* got that one right haha
we shall seeBoy was that a rare misevaluation of talent from Cael. Even *I* got that one right haha
I think KOT has earned his cred at this point. We can’t have them all, but he would have fit the program like a glove (on the mat, I can’t speak to the personality factor, but am looking forward to watching the flo film).we shall see
Hmmm. Lots of past tense in these comments.Maybe his personality didn't fit. Cael doesn't look at just talent
I hear you. Beau taking 3rd might have been my favorite NCAA tournament finish this past year.I hope Facundo has the same career Nick Lee had 😉Sometimes people act like these kids can’t actually grow and improve. I will never root against a Nittany Lion, but I do get more enjoyment in seeing the growth over a career, like Nick Lee or RBY had, than a transfer who plugs in and wins right away.

Point taken, and yet, I gotta say, seeing Gabe & Max tear up last year was a big highlight for me too.I hope Facundo has the same career Nick Lee had 😉Sometimes people act like these kids can’t actually grow and improve. True but no one is guaranteed 4 years in the lineup. Those guys are also 3 years away with redshirts. Seems PSU is also still recruiting Hopke.Ryder and the Mirasola twins ... somebody doesn't fit in this scenario.
Some guys can have a ton of success winning 1 takedown matches, but you need super, super elite defense and you need to be able to ride.
That take down versus Matthew's was all time good in my book I f..king came unglued when that happened. He wanted it bad. Love beauI hear you. Beau taking 3rd might have been my favorite NCAA tournament finish this past year.
Maybe a tie with Shayne Van Happy Ness. That dude just always seems happy. I get a kick out of watching him interacting with his teammates.

Just exchanging straight on shots into sprawls! (I kid, I kid!)
I know your views on Facundo but what do you think about Barr? He definitely has a few of the same deficiencies that Facundo does but I still think he’s going to be great. His lack of setups definitely concern me thoughJust exchanging straight on shots into sprawls! (I kid, I kid!)
Yeah I think we’re in line here. Same sorts of issues, though I think Barr has a bit more variance in his attacks and more willing to be a volume shooter from the jump (his Fargo final against Welsh is an example of this)I know your views on Facundo but what do you think about Barr? In Cael we trust. If anyone can bring about positive change Cael and his staff can.My thing with Facundo is less the result and more the process. It’s not a good process and hasn’t been for 2 years, which is why we saw a hard regression to the mean late this season.
Some guys can have a ton of success winning 1 takedown matches, but you need super, super elite defense and you need to be able to ride. I’m not sure Alex has either of those. Maybe he makes a jump, but nothing I’ve seen to this point in HS or college shows me he’s gonna live up to that recruiting ranking
And if it's Mirasola not starting, does he move on and take his brother too? We could conceivably lose our 285 guyRyder and the Mirasola twins ... somebody doesn't fit in this scenario.
The alternative is to not be excited when a world silver medalist, and one of the few guys to beat Levi Haines on a wrestling mat in the past year, is coming into your program. Those jumping off the Facundo train based upon last year's results, lack patience and trust in Cael's program. We’re doomed! And if it's Mirasola not starting, does he move on and take his brother too? We could conceivably lose our 285 guy
I know. Goodbye, scoring record...We’re doomed!
Commence the hand wringing before our recruits even get to the room. Wow, just wow the things people worry about.I know. Goodbye, scoring record...
Askren guys don't tend to give up easily. I would bet the Mirasola brother that doesn't make the starting rotation will dig in and try to catch and pass the guy who is keeping him off of the mat. There is so much to be said for guys who love the sport and realize it is a marathon rather than a sprint. PSU has has many studs wait it out and keep improving. I have to believe the guys really like it there for more reasons than just the glory. And if it's Mirasola not starting, does he move on and take his brother too? We could conceivably lose our 285 guy

Perhaps Alex can match Nick's 2 titles.RBY and Nick Lee were starting from a different floor. They were both AAs as true Freshmen. Alex went 0-2 as a RS Fr.
I'm a big fan of Alex', but having the same career Nick Lee had seems like a stretch.
Define “good one.” I was huge AHR fan out of high school. Thought his length and top game would translate well. But he’s struggled a good bit in college. Nice kid though, hope he gets it sorted.
