Wrestling 2022 NCAA Championships Results and Discussion threads

Why would a Lehigh guy care if he got teched or lost by 14? Sometimes a wrestler needs to feel the urgency of the moment when the team race is expected to be close. Too much time in the saddle. Again.

Gavin hoffman not looking good at the moment. losing 1-3 getting ridden good in the 3rd

Brooks 21-7. Dominant. Other dude stalled his ass off to avoid the tech.

If you catch and release, particularly when you're one of the best neutral wrestlers in the country, it's easier to score points against a guy who is stalling. It's a lot more obvious to the ref, too, and they are more likely to call it.

Nothing wrong with wanting guys to do better. Berge and DH didn't attack against opponents they were better than, it's frustrating.
Bingo. This isn't the first time we watched these guys and we got some idea of what they capable of. Aside from our resident clown, nobody is putting down the guys but are frustrated with some.

I get the riding time major decision complaints, but falls are worth more than tech falls. It sucks when we end up on the wrong end of that equation, but Brooks threw everything at that guy. I understand what folks are saying and agree to an extent, but it’s also hard to criticize going for the pin.

I know wasn’t there year…but Ohio State has wrestled horrible.
not that I’m sad to see it, but damn.

I would have cared.

On the other hand, if you don't feel like you're going to get the pin, got to go for the tech.

It's a common enough thing with our guys, though, that it's noteworthy. Aaron against Abe Assad this year, for example. Inexplicable amount of riding time for a DEC win against a guy he is clearly much better than. Most of our guys are NOT DT, Ed, or Zain reborn; they aren't folding people in half or cradling them from left field.

When they DO pin someone, it's usually in transition or off a scramble.

Fan is short for fanatic. Fanatics are someone who lack reality. These guys are trying. Calm down. BTW my thought is you are a moron.
Why watch sports if you're not a fan? Do you just watch because you like the uniforms? Do you not care who wins?

Also, I never thought I'd say this, but I'd bet that Starocci, Dean and Kerk score (FAR) more bonus points than RBY, Lee and Brooks combined.

Kerk is one of the best bonusers on our team ... he just doesn't have placement upside because an Olympic gold medalist chose to return.

I think all of the PSU guys with major decisions had over 4 minutes of riding time. Brooks wins by 14 with over 4 and a half. Frustrating.
It is frustrating, but it's a lot easier to get a tech (or a fall, obviously) with back points rather than TDs alone. So its understandable why these guys work hard on top looking for a chance to turn the opponent.

That said, Nick Lee had a tech in the bag and somehow let it slip away. Brooks, conversely, just ran out of time.

I do agree that there is something to be said to starting the catch and release earlier against a lesser opponent. If you have already taken them down 2-3 times, then get RT over a minute and start catch and release. If along the watch your take down leads right to a cradle or backpoints, carry on with that. else, catch and release...

Hey guys what mat did Dean wrestle on? I missed his match and think I can rewind the mat view. Thanks

Nolf seemed to have that perfected. Fall or TF.
