Wrestling 2022 NCAA Championships Results and Discussion threads

No idea what his conversion rate is, but he seems at his best when his volume of attacks are up. Even if he isn't converting, he's pressuring the opponent. I'll take that all day over The Brady that does nothing for 3 periods and then gets caught flat footed in overtime on his opponent's first legit shot of the match.

His volume of attacks is up when facing a lesser caliber of opponent.

He's not an NC-level guy, but he's pretty darn good. If he's going to beat top-15 guys, he's got to pick his spots. Sometimes that doesn't go your way.

He didn't wrestle badly against Wilits. Wilits did what he did well, you can debate whether Wilits tactics should not be penalized, but he was allowed to do the same thing against Carr and you saw what happened.

I don't think Brady's any different than he was earlier in the tourney, at the B1G tourney, earlier this season, or earlier in his career. This tourney can be rough. Sometimes you need a few 50/50s to go your way.

Should definitely be penalized. He does nothing and does it well. I wanted both Brady and Carr to win and it was pretty hard to watch someone do virtually zero and not get in trouble for it.

Holy Sh&t! I've had two, absolutely, horrible days with horses. One foundered, while working on it, its bone pushes through its sole on his other foot. Has to be put down. Today, I have a therapeutic horse blow his knee, and has to be put down.

I've not been able to watch or read a damn thing, and this place is depressing as hell. Meanwhile, the pos troll is still here. What a crazy day.
Sorry to hear that HS! Really sucks! Better day tomorrow!!!!

Thanks for your input. What exactly is wrong with it. You do know how scoring works for the next several rounds right?

we have an excellent chance to win but you are selling Michigan and iowa short. 8 guys is a lot and they have proven strong top to bottom.

You earned an "F" today for your (lack of) comprehension of Team Scoring over this 3-day tournament.

Overall nice round. Rby with the pull back pin which was awesome. Stevenson with the jump over. Red got screwed by the ref. How can the ref make that call is beyond ridiculous. Lance wrestled well, brands whined and cried as usual. Dean got lucky but didn’t quit either so as they say in golf if you miss hit it hit it down the middle.
Hildebrandt pulled it out, wish we knew what has changed with his wrestling. Berge was in big champ form and I hope he keeps attacking.
Long day tomororw. Care and eirmann upset. Let’s hope our top guys keep rocking!!

I’m just hoping we don’t get an overly ambitious ref in the rby/desanto semi tomorrow night based on how both Wilits’ matches hav been called.

Yeah it’s certainly not exciting wrestling. With certain officials he’s probably 0-2, with others he’s allowed to hang out long enough to do something wild like beat a guy like Carr.

Seriously, I looked at the bracket when they brought it up. If deacon gets upset then lewan may have a real shot. Just crazy when you think about that .otherwise deacon is very happy that carr lost.

I was exactly right. Thanks for playing. Your posting and Timing deserve an f. So see ya!!

You don't know what the F you're mumbling about.

You're pulling your hair our over Hildebrand & Berge back side points, when all the major team points are awarded in the quarters and semis - by our studs.

Now you keep posting about a "Deacon" in the other thread. LOLOL

Deakin isn't even in Lewan's side + Quincy Monday & Ed Scott are better than Lewan.

Keep your half-brained thoughts to yourself. You're cluttering the board.

Deakin is in the bottom bracket as the two seed moron. So yes he is licking his chops that carr lost. Wake the f up. As anything can happen. Your like the guys on football that are excited when we are 5-0 in sept.
Tomorrow is a big day so we will see.
Hopefully we do well.
Stop being a condescending ass and let people say what they want and get off my back!!

You called him Deacon 🤣

This post you made earlier (copy & pasted below) really is the dumbest post of the day -
Stop posting about the team race - ok?
Read more, post less.
Have a nice night.

Hildebrandt and berge losing in first round really hurts. We need bonus points this next round again from all of our guys. After that it is a toss up regarding bonus points since most of our guys keep it close..
berge and hildebrandt need to win at least 2 if not 3 for us to have a chance at team title. Beau needs to get lucky be sasso but that is doubtful and needs to win at least 2 in wrestle backs as well.

can kerk beat singleton. It is possible if he wrestles loose and fast and gets singles.

pretty clearly 2 nf for aeillo. no guarantee his tank holds up if the correct call is made, but still a terrible call. and terrible calls happen and fans turn their eyes away from the ones that help their teams. just part of sports. iowa got one last year. you guys got one this year. it won't be last time for either of us. feel worse for the individuals who get screwed than anything.

No challenge brick?? If it’s an obvious mistake there should be a turnover or a review at the very least

Today's Summary: Mildly satisfied. Hoped for better. A few bonus points nearly cashed. Cautiously optimistic for tomorrow. Still wondering how someone could stand up...peel hands and then escape in 2 seconds. A bit peeved that so many wrestlers can do absolutely nothing offensively for nearly 7 minutes and still win at the last second or in overtime. Still can't understand stalling as it is called.....sometimes by the same ref. A wrestler gets pushed into the table and loses on a stall call........while others down block for pretty much the entire 7 minutes and get called once. "Tomorrow's Gonna Be a Brighter Day"........Jim Croce

I don’t disagree about those points in the Dean match, but I thought the ref also missed Dean’s back points in a later sequence. Dean appeared in control in a Peterson position where I thought a danger count or back points should have been awarded. However, I don’t trust my judgment at that time of day during NCAA wrestling 😁

Sounds awful! I am so sorry. I was pre-vet my first two years of college, then realized I didn’t think I could handle putting animals down, even when it’s the right thing to do.

I definitely thought it was two nearfall watching it live. Maybe it’s my homerism, but watching the sequence several times now, I’m not so sure. He may not have been past 45 for more than a second. Definitely looks more borderline than what I remembered anyway. To me, Dean’s danger takedown to win it was much less controversial, and potentially could’ve been nearfall for him too. I obviously don’t subscribe to the conspiracy theories, but this was a couple of tricky positions to get right. The nearfall was challenged however, and a different official reviewed the video and didn’t overturn the call. Survive and move on, right? 😬

Hats off to Aiello though. Kid balled out.

I thought it should have been 2, although it was pretty close. I had a 2 1/2 count, but the camera angle isn’t the best. Are there other cameras that refs have access to?

That being said, Aiello kind of bailed on the position a little early. I think he would have gotten it if he fought harder to keep Max there.

That being said…It’s kind of ridiculous to compare that to Warner being stuck flat for 2 minutes against Reenan.

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the NCAA Wrestling Tournament!

I posted before that I think IMO this is called 2 "on the mat" most of the time in practice. The 45 doesn't have to be quite 45 and the 2 seconds can be pretty quick by most guys that ref.

The problem came when it wasn't called "on the mat." Really tough to overturn that call, because likely the review is not really clear - angle, whether back was covered, etc.

But at the end of the day, even if it is called 2 for Aiello, which in theory would make the match tied at the end of regulation, does anyone really think Aiello wins that match? Dean's been money in those situations all year. Aiello's not taking him down at that point in the match and if per chance it gets to TB, it's all Dean.
