Wrestling 2022 NCAA Championships Results and Discussion threads

Hard to see this version of Drew beating Teske and particularly Mastro or McKee after if he does. But hey, that’s why they wrestle the matches.
Oh yeah, you definitely need a damn moderator here. Wth is with some of these trolls?

Joining Aiello vs Dean late. End of two. Its 2-0 Aiello with 46 secs RT.

Dean starting in bottom. Dean gets escape. 18 secs. 2-1. Dean shoots. Scramble and Dean is in trouble. They give Dean a TD. Maybe for danger. I’d challenge that but they don’t. 3-2 Dean now. Aiello captures Dean’s leg. But Dean gets the upper hand and eventually works Aiello flat. 4-2 Dean wins.
Why would you challenge it? Dean held Aiello in danger for close to 5 seconds.

From what I saw… while typing… it looked like Aiello had upper hand and possibly TD before danger was called.

The 2nf in the 2nd was definitely debatable - you usually see that called 2 (even when the 45 is questionable), but once they didn't call it on the mat Aiello was kinda screwed because the 45 was very close and his shoulder was covered by Aiello. When you drill down on replay, it probably needs to be clearer to be overturned. But if they called it on the mat, it probably isn't even challenged and I don't think you can argue that it broke Dean's way.

But the TD was pretty clear. They are not going to call that 2 for Aiello unless he demonstrates control - which he didn't - or he gets Dean in the danger position for 3 - which he wasn't close to doing. Once Dean had Aiello in danger that TD was pretty clear.

16 B Berge vs 33 D Holschlag (UNI)

DH with first shot, easily stuffed by BB. DH stays aggressive and BB makes him pay by throwing him ti his back. Not long enough for back points. 2-0 BB. After 40 secs of riding, DH is out. BB in deep and gets TD after short scramble. 4-1 now. BB now getting back points! 6-1. BB riding hard and looking for a turn. 6-1 after one. 2:14 RT.

Neutral start to 2nd. BB to an ankle to single to finish as they go OOB. 8-1 now, 1:34 to go, blood time for DH. 2:17 RT. Optional start. 8-2. BB single leg. Short scramble and finishes. 10-2. Cuts him and DH catches off guard and gets a TD. 10-5 now. BB getting ridden now. 10-5 after two. RT down to 1:30.

DH takes bottom. Escape makes it 10-6. DH takes a shot and it’s a stalemate. BB shoots and finishes quickly. 12-6. OOB, 1:01 to go. Optional start. 12-7. Riding time secured. BB shoots and finishes quickly. 14-7 now. DH to his feet; BB gets mat return. Stalling on BB for clinging to ankle. Time runs out. 15-7 Major and another big bonus point!
