Anyone not wanting a Pitt vs Penn State

I will also second that playing WVU has not been, and is not, in PSU’s interests.

Nah, gotta make room for Idaho or App St on the schedule.
Totally idiotic comment. Teams like that (2 per year) will always be on PSU's schedule. They are purchased home games, as every P5 school purchases. If Pitt wants to replace Idaho on the schedule, PSU will be happy to pay them $1M a year to play at Beaver Stadium.

Pitt is being replaced on the schedule by VaTech, WVU, and Auburn. And for some strange reason Temple for 2 years, which noone understands or defends.

Penn State has very little to gain with a win and a lot more to lose with a loss.

Penn State broke up with Pitt and now its time for her to move on...

I'm glad the series is over. I have no interest in playing Pitt. Franklin has absolutely owned Narduzzi and the Pitt football program over the course of this latest series. Our program has nothing to gain from playing Pitt.

Not only has he own him, Nardooshie should charge Franklin rent for living in head.
Franklin has played Duzzi like a fiddle.

Exactly. For proof all they have to do is look at todays college rankings. We beat them in a "Rivalry" game and drop in the poll. Yea it does so much for us.

A win over pitt was good enough for a bye week Wisconsin to move up one spot in the AP into a tie with PSU. In the coaches poll, a win over pitt dropped us one spot behind Utah, who shut out the Idaho State Bengals. Thanks pitt. Good riddance.

Pitt played the best game they’ve played in a long time and we fought hard and beat them in a big “rivalry” game...and dropped in the polls. Yeah, that’s a great game to have on the schedule.

This is the perfect answer. I vividly remember great games between the two teams when both were big-time national-caliber programs. Then, a home-and-home series made all kinds of sense. Things change. Sayonara.

The Pitt boat has sailed and for some inexplicable reason it came back into port for a couple of seasons. Time to let it go back out to sea and sink to the depths.

As far as I am concerned Pitt lost their right to play Penn State when they jettisoned the chance to form a Big East football conference that included Penn State, because they were afraid of that. They can GFT (themselves). They got what they deserved.

annual football game is an idiot.

Idiot?
One of the biggest problems I have with this board, and one of the primary reasons I left it for 5 months, was the continuing attacks on other posters simply because they might disagree with one's position. It debases the level of debate on the board.
As for my position on the topic, I am one who thinks we should never play Pitt again unless it is in a bowl game.

Well, Temple is the second-best CFB team in Pennsylvania!

Agree...not sure why Penn State fans attack other Penn State fans. I’ve reacted poorly myself, but it’s usually in response to being insulted.

Well now that got some attention. Sorry guys the Pitt Penn State game has everything needed for a rivalry.

Coaches who have a true hate towards one another
Close fan bases who hate on another
Historic programs
History between the two.

Now as one poster has stated yea keep the Idaho's and App state's ect its just not the same. And the arrogance that we as a Penn State fan base have is down right laughable. Pitt vs PSU was a Nationally televised game and always will be. So yea lets crank up the big rivalry with Purdue or Indiana or Iowa (Yawn) . Or opening games against GA State or NW Middle Tennessee state of Missouri ect ect. PSU and Pitt needs to stay

You do realize that Purdue, Indiana and Iowa are in our conference right? And if Pitt wants to play us at home every year we would gladly replace GA State or NE Middle Tenn State of Missouri with Pitt.

I do know that but playing those teams have zero flavor. Playing Buffalo, App State, GA State has zero flavor either

PSU needs 7 home games annually for financial reasons. Pitt helped put the kibosh on Paterno’s all Big East conference for selfish (financial) reasons—or wanted the lucrative gate as a result of playing at PSU every other year without giving up the lucrative Big East basketball conference money. When PSU joined the Big Ten and left Pitt on the outside looking in, overnight there was a “Big East” football conference with that long time “traditional” eastern team-Miami as the centerpiece

As others have pointed out, playing Pitt is a no win situation for PSU; it helps Pitt’s program immensely, but nothing for PSU (as evidenced by PSU dropping 1 spot in the coaches’ poll since it only best Pitt by 7 points)

I guess it’s okay for Pitt to look out for its best interests by killing the all sports Big East conference, but not okay for PSU to look out for its interests after joining the Big Ten

Despite the fact that 2 out every 3 games were played in Pittsburgh when the team’s first began playing and that Pitt hasn’t been relevant in football for decades, Pitt was “insulted” when PSU proposed playing 2 games out of 3 at Beaver Stadium as a way to keep the series going given its scheduling commitments

I have had season tickets since 1978 and attended many games when Pitt/PSU was a true rivalry and the games had national implications ever year. Pitt killed that; not Joe Paterno for you uneducated whiners. Pitt made its bed and now should sleep in it. You
