Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State versus Illinois

Mild identity crisis. Very strong run game. 2 backs churning yards. QB who is throwing darts, but the staff is inclined to bounce between the running game, the gimmicks, and just enough passing to keep defenses honest.
He was throwing darts early. Not so much as the game progressed.

Sunday morning QBing. I liked the ground and pound last night. we took what Illinois gave us. two deep safeties and very few run blitzes. A reverse or two would have been nice.
3rd and 7 James and you don't trust your potential AA QB. that was a bad move by Franklin. You have to have Allar in the game in that situation.
The Int by AJ was a beautiful thing. All Illinois had in the passing game was the slant and a swing pass. The D baited him and AJ stepped right in the passing lane.

It worked a lot for Joe. We need to play ball control against those teams and that means relying on our run game.
But Joe always had a sure footed kicker and took a field goal any time it presented itself.

It was intriguing that for the last XP when Sahaydek was pulled, it was Barker and not Meyer who was inserted. Has Barker moved ahead of Meyer on the depth chart or was Meyer not available?

I don’t think he has friends. Hence the 24/7 jackassery.
Lol coming from you
Anyone that still doesn't think I'm a Penn State is just an idiot. It goes to the holier than thou BS. Even at the half I said we'd win 24-10. The difference between me and most here is I'm a fan of college football that's favorite team is Penn State while many here just root for Penn State and hate college football

In case you haven’t noticed I’m done with your act. Take it to your only friend Perfect Pitch. Also done with his idiocy. But you two seem meant for each other. You have my best wishes.

Actually, JoePA used the Fake FG more than any coach I've ever seen - it almost always worked and often went for a TD (really demonstrated what a great tactician JVP was).

Only time I can see this douche's idiocy is when others are going back-&-forth with him telling him what a moron (sorry @ss troll) he is, because I put him on ignore a long time ago. He's such a twit - he thinks his "us" and "we" bullshit convinces everyone he's a PSU - it's really pathetically laughable that an adult fan of another team acts like this. Just scary and tells you what kind of douchebag weirdo this tool is.

Early returns … crowd stinks, defense stinks.
I was at the game. This was a terrible take. The fans were into every play the entire game. Everyone on their feet screaming like mad people before every Illinois snap. Watching the replay on TV, I can say without doubt that NBC filtered it down. I’ve been a season ticket holder for three years and this was the best crowd I’ve been part of.

Cool. But you could tell Illinois was completely unbothered by the crowd noise, and it was comparatively low while they were trying to get their play set up ... and then occasionally the crowd would pick up the intensity, but by then it was too late. It wasn't close to the typical "big game" opening series noise you hear at a PSU home game. And when that crazy crowd noise happened in the past, you could see the panic from the other squad.

Whatever couchboy. Go to the game and be party of the atmosphere if you think it is lacking., which it wasn’t.

I'll pass ... uh ... bleacherboy, or whatever. I'd rather be here on my couch after my one son's Saturday football game, and before the next day's early baseball games/practices for both boys. No reason to get so cranky just because crowd noise was lacking in the early going. You weren't the entire crowd. Don't take it personally. Relax, have a White Claw, and discuss amongst your girlfriends.

I was there. The crowd was very good. Not the loudest I’ve heard it, but very good. I don’t give a damn what you think of the crowd based on what you heard on TV. The producers can make any crowd seem louder or quieter based on how they place microphones and choose to feed that input into the broadcast. Keep arguing if you want, but the opinion of someone that wasn’t there is useless.
