B1G asks NCAA for weekly injury report

Figured something like that was coming along with gambling, but there is a structural problem. If a pro football team games their injury report, the commissioner is able to punish the coach and owner with fines. How will the NCAA enforce this? Will they sic powerful Mark Emmert and his staff of cronies to punish the offenders? I doubt that. They routinely ignore fake classes and academic cheating.

But, but, but...….

What about HIPPA?

LOL

The bullsh^t that these assh^le suits can spew in a day, could fertilize all of Sub-Saharan Africa.
its a good point...and that crossed my mind as well. The pro leagues have collective bargaining agreements where they agree to violation of HIPPA. Maybe as simple as adding a clause to the college scholarship agreements...on the other hand, without having a true CBA, leaves them open to further law suits.

No expert but HIPPA applies to "covered entities" and the NFL is not considered such.

Gambling was plenty legal in Vegas prior to being legalized recently in other states. These are still college athletes. I don't see any reason for schools to share injury information to the rest of the country, especially for gambling purposes.

It's not really a HIPAA issue. No one on a college coaching staff is bound by HIPAA.

But the NFL CBA allows for release of medical info. A college player may not want that info released.

You'll probably end up seeing something like what OB did when he was here. He published an injury report in the game notes.

Why would The Big 10(14) care who at the NCAA is injured?

Unless it is Emmert.....hope he get’s mortally injured!
