Franklin among favorites for USC job, per BetOnline Sportsbook

Was just in Knoxville for a couple of days, and one UT fan I spoke with indicated a growing dissatisfaction with Jeremy Pruitt (imagine that) and that CJF would be a favorite for some in the fan base.

Not saying it would happen, just relaying what some fans are thinking.

And to think that I, or anyone else, could make him the favorite by putting a little money down. LMFAO.

Bill O’Brien used PSU as a steppingstone.

EVERYTHING that CJF has said from day one has indicated that PSU is his dream job. If he were to move on to Southern Cal, he’d never have ANY credibility for anything he ever said for the rest of his life.

Personally, I can’t see that move ever happening because of his family. But, at the same time, he and I have never discussed it during his visits to Chicagoland.

Well, it's the PAC12, so there's no need to play any defense whatsoever....
Not sure what the defense part is about. If Franklin were to hypothetically take the USC job (which, make no mistake, is unlikely) and get the Trojans defense to play the same level that his defenses have played at during his time here, they’d be pretty close to an annual playoff participant. Franklin’s defenses, by and large, have been among the best in the conference, if not the country, since he was hired.

Yes, Sandy's first priority would be to renovate the Coliseum. Just imagine the possibilities!
She would institute a major fundraiser to turn the Coliseum into the Acropolis.

USC just beat a ranked Utah team and is in a weak division giving them a good shot at a good bowl game. What makes anyone think there's even a job opening there?

Franklin reminds me of Bob Stoops. It seemed during Stoops' first decade in Norman his name was brought up for every potential job opening

Stoops is another name that should be getting some traction. Although if the Cowboys sh*t the bed this year, Jerrah will be looking for a new coach. And he already went to the OU well once and no reason he would not do it again. And that could mean Stoops heading back to Norman.

Amazing how clueless many fan bases are and Tennessee is beyond desperate with their continuous efforts at finding a decent head coach since Phillip Fulmer. They’ve had 6 head coaches since he left in 2008.

I hear that James Franklin continues to be very popular in the South

You really think they would want a PSU person after what the whole Schiano thing?

I have no idea if Franklin is interested in that or any other job, but if he leaves, "credibility" after the fact would be a non-issue as long as he wins. For an example, look no further than Nick Saban at LSU. I mean, the Dolphins. Err..... Alabama.

If she continues on her merry way at PSU, Beaver Stadium will look like the Acropolis soon enough.

At least a few of them do. I think the ones I spoke with learned their lesson about listening to a loud mouth know nothing named Clay Travis.

For the record, I made it a point to bring this up in conversation with one person, who generally agreed that Travis was the basis for the debacle in Knoxville.

Besides - CFJ wasn't here with Sandusky and Joe. Even the UT fans were aware of that.

Neither you nor I know what CJF's priorities are. But one thing everyone should stop doing is projecting their likes and dislikes onto CJF and whatever priorities he has.
You're right. I'll bet he loves L.A. traffic. My bad.

So it is official then? We don't need to worry about a thing. Al Golden to the rescue!

Even better - Rutgers is all excited about bringing back Greg Schiano. Let's get the jump on them and just hire him now!

It’s a lateral move, something he frowns upon for asst coaches. And the traffic, oy vey.

I know we're all clowning around here, but Matt Ruhl would make more sense in my opinion. Whether or not we have the Texas sized bank account to yank him away from Chip and Joanna country remains to be seen.

Meh. It’s just an online sports book speculating about the SC job with no inside information whatsoever, and a need/desire to create betting options.

When some moderately credible source other than Onward State or the Daily Collegian starts reporting on this, I might pay a little more attention.

I'll be at the ISU vs. Baylor game this weekend. I'll see if I can get a magic number from Rhule. :D

Well if California starts paying their players there will be a lot of coaches headed that way. Of course no one will abuse the new system!
