Haven’t watched Iowa. How are they top 5 based on schedule?

I guess everyone that is a fan of PSU or Iowa is a homer (no argument), so no one can have an objective conversation on this message board according to rmem. Ok, so now what rmem? I actually disagree with you since we are having pretty objective (as much as possible I guess) conversations. How do you think the game will play out? Do you have an opinion?

It seems nobody is talking about when iowa has the ball, only when penn state has the ball. How is Iowa going to move the ball when they are on offense and the ball sits at the iowa 20, not the penn state 35?

The assumption seems to be that we are going to give them multiple short fields which will all be converted in to points. When we don’t give them short fields our inept offense will go 3 and out and punt.

I watched the Iowa-UMD game on Big Ten in 60 (I had seen some of the second half live but the game wasn't close by then so it was hard to glean much).

Some conclusions:

1) Maryland beat themselves with penalties, dropped balls, bad tackling and of course turnovers.

2) Maryland is NOT a good football team and I'm not at all worried about PSU beating them.

3) Maryland's WRs had success (when they caught the ball) on WR screens (which PSU excels at) and deep crossing routes. I think PSU's WR are better than UMD (esp. considering they lost their WR1 early to injury) so I expect both Dotson and Washington to find space in the zone. I think there is also the potential for a big day for the TE.

4) Defense by Iowa was almost exclusively 2 deep shell. Nothing exotic. I think MY will have fun calling plays against it.

5) Iowa's OL seemed like a weak link, especially in pass protection. UMD's dline (who is average at best) got significant pressure on the QB.

6) I think two of UMD's INTs were off of tipped balls. The other were just terrible throws.

Obviously one game does not define either team, but I was unimpressed with both squads.

Interesting, because with warm dry weather predicted...a 3 and out for penn state from their own 25...results usually with an iowa first down from the Iowa 22 yard line. That's going by the current stats on Stout.

Not trying to flame Iowa. I’m just not seeing how they are ranked so high based on their schedule to date. Usually teams with that schedule without the marquis brand (OSU, Bama, etc) are ranked bottom of the top 10 behind one loss SEC teams.

5th best team in the SEC West….
