I have actually. A girlfriend in high school was contemplating going to the Naval Academy. Did the whole tour with her. Don't remember too much but it was pretty cool. I do recall the tour guide pointing out the unusual number of high end car dealerships just off campus. Evidently students are earning money the whole time but don't get it until graduation in the form of a lump sum and a lot of new grads end up in a candy apple red sports car. Also there was this mini looking Washington Monument type of thing about 20 feet tall and at some point each year it is greased up and a class has to get to the top using only teamwork. It's been a long time since I've thought about that. Wish I could remember more.
When my sister was going to school up in Boston, she met a naval officer who went back to school for his PhD. He was a top gun pilot, but left to go back to school. I'm sure the navy was also paying for this.
They fell in rough and got married, and that's when I started to go visit down Annapolis. I love the town, and my wife and I love to go down and visit. We stayed at the waterfront in a balcony room probably 45 times for various birthdays.
I mean her birthday is on July 5 so we would often get a room for the fourth and fifth so we could watch fireworks from the balcony. They only have about 25 rooms if you want to have a Water view so it's best to book early or maybe check into a late cancellation.
As of now that Marriott has really up their prices so we've been staying up the street a little bit it was called the graduate hotel. It used to be a Loews Hotel. We usually pay anywhere from a little over 100 to 200 some dollars for a room and it's still close to everything downtown.
We've seen shows twice at the Rams head brewery just a little bit down the street so it's a very convenient venue if you wanna see a knock at that place.
As for food it's pretty fantastic and we don't think it's really out of line economically for the prices for dinner and drinks. Not much more than small town Pennsylvania actually, if you're talking about again, you're a Miller and as for craft beer, will he know that's always a little pricey.
I check out the deli/restaurant chicken Ruth's on main street. Very cramped inside but that's the only place I've ever had a crab and cheese omelette with a side of crabcake.
