The latest Ferrari Clan thread has me choking laughing as I’m watching WBC. My wife thinks I’m nuts laughing my ass off about wrestling forums. She won’t understand..I tried explaining the Gobblin thing, she rolled her eyes and walked away. Tonight I’m laughing my ass off again reading the Ferrari Clan thread and she looks at me, sees I’m on the forums and just shakes her head.

Between Ironbird tallying up the scores for next year (he has Iowa by a landslide) and Globalhawk confusing everyone and Gobblin getting caught in more lies with the Bouzakis thing it’s just pure comedy gold

Why would Iowa, a program of enormous heritage and integrity, even take a chance on either of the two oldest Ferrari's? I can understand the youngest but why the older two and don't tell me the noble "second chance" crap?

The Brands are desperate and are willing to go to this extreme for one more shot at dethroning the king, maybe the greatest king of all time.

The Brands know that their win in 2021 was fortunate (Berge got hurt and JLee underperformed) and that the 2020 title would have been within their reach only because four Lions (Cassar, Conel, Nevills, and Shak) got hurt. Yes, injuries do impact the Nits, too. Cael was never punting during those years. In fact, there is no more punting for PSU.

I think there is a difference between the two older brothers. Anthony has a couple misdemeanor charges and a resolution date in April (along with the fighting thing years ago at Blair), but nothing so bad he doesn’t deserve a chance if you meet with him and get some confidence he can stay clean. They are definitely taking a risk with him, but it’s a risk they’ll have to dismiss him early because he missteps again, not a reputational risk just from having him on the roster.

AJ, OTOH, is facing felony sexual assault, which carries real prison time and registered sex offender status, and the facts of the case are pretty disgusting. There is no way in hell anyone is going to take him without a positive resolution to that. No way. The relational risk of letting someone on with sexual assault charges against him is too great for any school.

The third brother obviously has no issues except genetics. Iowa may just get the younger two unless AJ can get the charges dismissed. AJ right now is like Cael bringing Long back after the charges, which didn’t happen.

I agree with most of this but you have to own the Long thing. Did Cael think he could keep him in line? Sure, so does Tom. But Long had multiple run ins with police in Ames and a huge drinking problem. There was a reason he was kicked off. Returning freshman finalists don’t get kicked off the team for minor first time offenses. Cael took a gamble on an ultra talented guy, it worked out for a year, then it fell apart.

I think it would be more fair to say that Cael made a big mistake once and has done a good job not repeating it.

I just don’t see it js. Honest to goodness, why on Earth would any coach, let alone coaches of a team that can be a trophy team pretty much every year while seriously contending 1/3 years, would bring on such drama.

Fact.. Average scores over the last seven national tournaments are PSU 133 vs. Iowa 91 and that includes a 129 in 2021 for Iowa. That’s an 42 pt gap on average for the last seven yrs! Only once has Iowa scored more than 100pts. PSU has done it all seven yrs.

What in the world suggests next year will be any different when PSU returns 6 AAs and 107 pts as a start? That includes 4 guys at pre season #1.

That’s the risk of taking him that I mentioned. Even if whatever it is he did becomes public today and he is arrested for it, they can release him, cut all ties, wash their hands, and walk away without any reputational damage since it wasn’t public when they signed/“commited” him. That’s different than officially admitting AJ into the program with known felony sexual assault charges hanging over him. There would be a public uproar if he joins the program and those charges aren’t dismissed.
