Iowa vs Iowa State

I said after that first dual against Kent State or who ever it was that Iowa wrestled that Iowa had chasms to bridge to compete with PSU.

They better start moving the goalposts down the road again.

Transfers are transfers, they dont change their stripes. We've learned that here as well. And mid ceiling guys that get far better in the room may wrestle the elite tough and get some decent wins, but there's a much bigger step to get high on the podium. Something seen here as well.

They basically need everything to go right in order to contend. It never does. Something we've also learned but we now have the horses in the stable to overcome what goes wrong. The only team that is going to really challenge us in the near future is one state west. They've got a big stable as well.
I can’t argue this point. I just wonder why the general consensus on this board is to obsess over Iowa then since we are obviously no competition. If it’s because of some delusional posters on HR who think we are contending for a NC this year, my advice would be to ignore them.

Thank God for Iowa they missed the back points against Warner.

Unfortunate for the Cyclones that each team couldn't have put their best available wrestler out there due to redshirts, or they come home with the win.

Those absolutely shouldn’t have been back points. No part of his back was within 4 inches of the mat because he was partially sitting up.

We have yet to dominate the message board rivalry. Unfortunately Tom McAndrew is no Cael.

I've really got no argument with that, not that I care enough to look at it again. It was just a throwaway line to get to the one that you ignored.

For me its the general lack of respect and accusations thrown at Cael and Co. meanwhile TNT can apparently do no wrong despite approaching a decade of no titles.

Plus, PSU wrestlers are much more f*n to watch!

Lol @ you thinking HR has some delusional posters. The place is a cesspool of humanity. There is maybe one poster on that board that is not a delusional degenerate.

Dude, I'm disappointed in you.

The Universe, of course.
Haha! I was going to say world domination but that would have been selling it short. In regards to the match, very disappointed in Lugo and Wilke. Both very experienced and can’t finish a match. Murin is only a freshman so needs to learn from it. Spencer obviously has some kind of health issue. He has never looked like that when he’s 100%. Someone on HR heard he’s recovering from kidney stones but who knows. Give ISU credit, Dresser had his guys ready and they wrestled expecting to win. I will reserve going into full panic mode until we see our full lineup for multiple matches. Hopefully today was a low point.

I thought both had to agree to random otherwise it defaulted to 125. Cael likes 125 start so just about all our matchs start that way. If only one had to agree we might have more random starts.

makes sense, thought Brands was a traditionalist also...how would this have played out if 125 was first?

I post on that board. Am I a delusional degenerate?

Just think that those two guys are who they are. They've been around awhile and what you see is what you get. Each will probably get a big win here or there and get everybody all excited, but at the end of the day you got guys who are fringe AA to top 15 guys whose finish will depend on draw and which way the ball bounces for them that day.

Murin may be a little better, maybe. But do you ever see him beating a guy like Yianni even on his best day? I don't. And that's what you got to get to to be a contender. Not seeing a McKenna, Eierman, Nick Lee type of guy there, and there will be more guys like that coming in in future years.

I think the disappointment comes from unrealistic expectations.

I'd politely suggest that you could look at the Teasdale thread on HR, and look for how many Hawk fans were appalled by the disgraceful behavior by other Hawkeye fans on that thread. There weren't many.

That is true about the Teasdale thread, but I would submit that most of the people who were appalled would not dignify the thread by replying. They have learned the futility of doing so. Maybe if more of us did that those threads would die quicker.

There are far more than a “couple” bad posters on HR. However, there are actually also even more really good ones too that I respect and enjoy hearing from. Unfortunately the good ones get drowned out many times and stop posting amid all the muck. Turk and JMadden are fine in my book.

I think this is a very good post. I think the difference between HR and other boards is the volume and that this brings guys like the Weh8te guy, Vodka, DonH and others that would get clowned off the board over here. Over there a bit more slack is given if you're a fan of the black and gold than here even if you're a fan of the blue and white. Undeserved slack IMO. A clown is a clown no matter the color.

Agreed. I have many times wondered why the mods allow some of the stuff that goes on there, but I guess its the age old free speech debate. Personally I just see no problem with free speech in "forcing" people to keep things civil. Guess that comes from my Mom's side of the family (Brits) :)

I've got no problem with the mods.

There are guys over there that know these posters are idiots and can easily refute them. They don't, most likely because of the volume.

Over here you get a spyker/rings, a guns, and they clowned online by multiple posters. Until they dont show up much.

There is always going to be disagreement and fandom. Plenty of guys on here may poke fun at the Brands, Ryan, etc. Plenty of guys on here respect and stick up for them. That's all good and how it should be.

The difference here is when the line is crossed I think. There's not as much bitterness here to generate some of the vitriol.

Have to admit hawk nation across the intranet is not imploding as I thought they would.

No, but the fuse is lit.

For sure. But reading the posts, they were the better team, just the scoreboard didnt reflect it.

They had the scare at Illin last season only to bring it in March.

My concern with the team, legit concern, is all the darn injuries that happen to their kids. Seems like every time you blink another kid is held out, shows up with a brace, or has a pound of tape wrapped around his body.

just seems to be above normal. maybe not.

Good all tagged out. Son had a blast. Got to see the old man make a great shot and drug his first deer out out of the woods. Couldnt get him to gut it yet, but his red dawn moment is coming!
You live in PA? Just curious as to where people get their deer.
