My favorite part of the match was when Desanto got off his back and he does the Saquon Barkley TD celebration on Gomez's head for the last few seconds. Impressive
Yep, home mat advantage. No danger call, no reversal, he could have had 4 points and he got 0. That was the match right there.
I think the Kemerer injury knocked some sense into a lot of people in the 150 point club. Like an inoculation of sorts before today’s display. The Lugo as probable finalist and Wilcke as an improved athlete at 184 things have been strangled in their infancy as well. The DeSanto and Warner as finalists and Murin as mid AA still have some life

I like Desanto, and wish him nothing but the best, but part of me was wishing for the flying squirrel to kimura combo.
To his credit, he definitely fought off getting pinned.

To be totally accurate...….none of them were vicious clubs...……..but they came fast

Couple that with the fact that he wore a shoulder brace when his shoulder was getting cranked, it's all the more impressive. Kid's tough.
I think this is harsh. Yes.....he had a few seconds of frustration......but he then went straight to the center of the mat and held out his hand and waited for Gomez to come over. I call that progress.
I guess when the bar is, "at least he didn't try to break his arm" it would seem mild.
No matter what you think about Desanto lack of effort will never be a part of it!
Stoll and DeSanto were not expected to go. No mention of the same for Lee, so maybe he isn't injured, as many were thinking. He seemed to just clearly run out of gas.

Lee sounds like he’s been sick. No surprise. Mackall would be lucky to get out of the 2nd period with a healthy Lee

Have to give Clones credit they came ready to fight and wrestle. Hawks where flat ones that where healthy and did not perform well.Murin just screwed up.
Lee had flu all week was in hospital a few days a healthy Lee has TF in first period, Lugo also just getting over it,Wilke also just screwed up.Wilson getting hurt being ahead then having to MFF heck thats 9 points. Really if Murin, Wilke, and Wilson had won no Lee or Stoll would have even wrestled..A win is a win even as bad as it looked but I at least give the men that where sick and got the job done. Has to be more than running out of gas. I was listening on the radio (Iowa City AM station) and they were seeing he was really slow reacting and looked punch drunk. I was hoping ISU could get it down to a decision there, but he did hold on for the MD which proved to be the difference.
The comments in this thread questioning Spencer Lee are funny. Nothing about his performance this weekend changes the fact that the national championship is and will remain his to lose barring major injury.
I guess that I'm not reading where anyone is "questioning" him. All I read are comments speculating as to why he didn't seem 100%, which he clearly wasn't.
I took none of it as negative, and that's coming from a guy who's almost made an industry out of negativity toward the Sqwawkers.

I'm not sure that anyone is refuting it, we simply didn't know that he was sick. Myself included in that.
