Iowa

I have no inside information and don't really pay attention to much of the printed information about Iowa, but it wouldn't surprise me for several of these guys NOT to return for various reasons and I won't say that it's because they aren't enjoying themselves at Iowa. Look, guys like Kemerer and Eierman have been around college campuses and wrestling rooms for a long time and I'd think you'd have to look forward to the next stage in your life, whether it's freestyle wrestling or a job in the "real world". As for Kemerer, he's one of the guys that I do feel sorry for because it did seem like it was his turn, but does anyone think that Carter Starocci will be easier for him to beat next year? I really thought that Kemerer was the big favorite in this tournament, but next year? No way, Carter Starocci is the favorite until and unless Kemerer or someone else thumps him in the dual season next year. Spencer Lee? Here's a kid who's basically accomplished all that he wanted and he's now busted up and still hoping for an international wrestling career, might justifiably be time to move on. Same for Marinelli who's had some tough luck and seems to be getting a bit injury prone. With Cenzo gone, it seemed like Marinelli was definitely next in line. Now, maybe never. Personally I'll be shocked if they don't lose at least 2 of these kids and even if they all return, PSU is still the favorite next year.....prove me wrong.

I would be surprised if they return their entire lineup. Lots of rumblings about Marinelli and Young. If Kemerer won last night, I would think he might be gone as well but now not so sure. Even Spencer Lee has to seriously consider a redshirt to get his ACLs fixed, it can't be good for him to continue to wrestler without getting them repaired.

Reading the tea leaves it doesn’t sound like Iowa’s entire starting lineup is going to return next year. Tom talks about it twice in the 9:00 interview. That’s my take, anyway....

“There are a lot of things to iron out. It’s that simple”

So...... it’s simply complex? ;)
