OP I really liked your original post & I agree Pitt is done, shame that RU isn't able to take advantage of being in the B1G with this horrible staff, I believe our higher rated recruits will be those with limited options as schools start to fill up there classes & they want to play in a P5 conference in there region

I don't know how Pitt does long term but I think Narduzzi will be very successful at Pitt because he is a superior coach.
If anyones looked at West Virginia's recruiting lately, that wont get it done in the B12 either. It has to be near the bottom for the Big12 conference. Pitt, Rutgers and WVU all near the bottom in their conferences recruiting, at least early on.
He'll do well enough to get hired someplace else.

I think that the B1G expanding will certainly increase their recruiting footprint however kids still look at coaching staffs and players placed in the league. I don't see MD or RU out recruiting PSU for recruits just for the sake of playing in the B1G. As far as Pitt is concerned I don't think that MD or RU is a more attractive setting or situation. It will still come down to Pitt vs PSU unless RU and MD become football elite which hasn't happened in my lifetime and I'm 43.

Pretty much it. This talk of game day coaching is kind of funny as Nard dog has yet to run the show for a single game. Some coaches are just better coordinators and can't handle the pressure. Others thrive on it and can, who knows which he will be. Franklin has proven he can coach at Vandy and won more games last year with 40+ kids ib ship playing by the end of the year on ship. He needs 2 more years to really stock the roster as the OL will still be a huge issue this year for him. He'll get there right as Nard dog is either bailing or floundering as he won't be there if he starts to win. Pitt fans can pray and hope they have something, but the bottom line is Franklin has kicked their teeth in recruiting since he has arrived and is preparing this program for a brighter future. -

I'll still bite. Let's start with the NCAA had no authority to act. That's exactly why they repealed the sanctions. Secondly, Paterno was NEVER charged, only praised for his appropriate action by the AG, and cleared of wrongdoing by the lead prosecutor, Frank Fina. Lastly, none of the charged administrators have been convicted of a crime. So the question is, how could any sane, non-biased individual think the sanctions were just?

The 3 admins...have been doing everything possible to avoid trial. That doesn't make them innocent. Nobody had authority to level sanctions against PSU. However, the acts were so heinous, the NCAA felt they had to do something. PSU's own board of trusties felt compelled to agree to them. As for Paterno, I have no idea how much of a role he played, if any. Since much of the evidence is still under wraps. However, there is enough circumstantial evidence to merit further inquiry.

I never said Maryland or Rutgers would outrecruit Penn State. I said they will outrecruit Pitt and they are doing so this year and did so last year. No one is saying Maryland or Rutgers are elite, but the fact you think Pitt could be and is going to compete with Penn State for kids outside of Western PA is comical. Show me an example....I'll wait. It's funny you can't even see what is coming.
Lurker, I completely agree. The debacle that occurred after firing Wannstedt definitely did more damage to Pitt. I'm sure that is one of the many reasons Steve Pederson was let go.
No one is worried about Pitt unless you missed the entire premise of the Topic. People are seeing what is happening to Pitt now that the Big 10 expanded it's footprint over top of it and expanded east. If you honestly think anyone is worrying about Pitt, you haven't been paying attention. Penn State is landing top rated commits in states all over the east coast. Pitt is struggling to hold onto theirs or picking up 2 star lineman and qb's with MAC offers.
It's not where you start...it's where you finish. I'll tell you how good this year's Pitt recruiting class is in 3 years.
It will be impossible for Pitt to finish above #50 in recruiting at this point. Utterly impossible. Even #50 is a stretch at this point unless they land the rest of the PA top ten, which they won't.
I'll save you the trouble. It's stunk for quite a few years in a row. Narduzzi has interest peaked in Pittsburgh(like every other Pitt coach has), but you see very little interest East of Monroeville and West of Youngstown.
