Match Notes for ASU Dual

Highly doubt you see Desanto at 141 for that dual.

Interesting. I'm on the other side of that and would be surprised if he wasn't there, as the possible reasons for not going 141 would seem either dubious or troublesome:
(a) Plug pulled on Teasdale experiment;
(b) Murin or Happel winning the spot;
(c) Ducking.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Just a guess but what if there is no Teasdale experiment per se.?

I.e., Murin > Teasdale >= Happel, but Murin is hurt. In which case, DeSanto drops back down when Murin returns.

Just a thought ...

Good discussion. Shows how much talent Iowa has at 133-141; Murin, DeSanto, Happel, Teasdale, even Glynn, and Turk (listed at 149, but was 141 last year). With Lugo presumably locking down 149 in his senior season, some good wrestlers are going to sit.

Glynn and Turk are seniors, and even next year could be interesting with Murin, DeSanto, Happel, Teasdale and Eierman (thanks, rmg78) going for three spots (133-149).

I do follow that line of thought, though I tend to visualize it as DeSanto+Murin > Teasdale+DeSanto (avoiding direct comparison of Teasdale and Murin, who would seem to be different weights in all plausible scenarios).

I would still count that outcome as a plug-pull on the Teasdale experiment . . . I use "experiment" loosely to include not just official statements (or implications) by the coaching staff, but also HR documentation -- e.g., Teasdale "whipping" DeSanto in the room, and Teasdale being a title contender not only at 133 lbs in NCAAs, but also at any weight a grizzly bear might go at if a match were to be held between the two in a cave somewhere. ;)

Given those circumstances, anything other than Teasdale at 133 would now have to be considered a colossal collapse in The Plan (whether TnT's or HR's). This looks especially messy if the truth is that Teasdale>DeSanto and Murin>DeSanto, as DeSanto's prospective 2019-20 redshirt has now been burned. The only way the situation can play out well is if DeSanto stays at 141 and is, indeed, better than Murin.

DeSanto wrestling attached last weekend is a strong indication the coaches are convinced he will be a better option either at 133 or 141. My guess is 141, or else he would have gone 133 last weekend.

Desanto is only listed at 133 for the ISU dual on Sunday. Last week he was listed at both 133 and 141 and as we know wrestled 141. Obviously the projected lineups can change but it’s interesting that he’s only listed at 133 this week. My guess is Brands will have a clearer picture after Midlands depending on how Teasdale wrestles and if Murin is healthy enough to compete at 141

Is Gomez back down to 133 yet?

Fair enough, though going 133 now seems weird.

If there is any chance he will be 141 in March, the staff should have committed by now and had him work toward rounding out the weight.

If he's going to be the 133, then that was some weird stuff on Teasdale being an option there.

If they still don't know whether he's the best option at either weight, they should not have wrestled him attached last weekend.

If they just don't know which weight he'll go in March . . . man, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on having their hands tied by extenuating circumstances, but it still looks rough. There was probably something to learn from OkieSt last season.

If we see RBY v Glynn, I'll be anxious to see if Roman can break through Glynn's defensive fortress and record any points ;)

I’m guessing if Berge was a go he would have been included with the Caesar and Conel update.

If we land Van Ness, that’s my go to Gif

I was going to go w/ Mr. Burns's "eggscellent", but thought it was yours. Maybe I missed that you have rights to the Grinch, as well?

Sorry, I just want to see Caesar dish out a thrashing.

PSU women's soccer team just tied the game with 3 minutes to go against Arizona on the Pac12 Arizona channel. I doubt we see the start of the match until this game is over, which won't be for another about 20 minutes at least. Probably 30.
