We could easily lose this meet. What do you think about the matchups?

125: Suriano DEC Hildebrandt 0-3
133: RBY DEC Ragusin 3-3
141: Lee DEC Micic 6-3
149: Bartlett DEC Storr 9-3
157: Lewan DEC Negron 9-6
165: Amine DEC Edsell 9-9
174: Starocci DEC Massa 12-9
184: Brooks DEC Amine 15-9
197: Dean DEC Brucki 18-9
285: Kerkvliet DEC Parris 21-9

Several matches are going to be nail biters. They might have bonus on their side in a couple of matches, maybe 125, 157, 165, but our guys in those slots haven't been giving up bonus. Hildebrandt, for instance has only ever given up bonus to Spencer Lee (2x) and Seabass. Suriano has bonused three guys in his entire career ranked higher than 20. Is he that much better now?

I ain't skeered.

I don"t see Kerkvliet beating Parris!

Are you one of the worriers?

Suriano major over Hildebrandt? I can't see Suriano initiating that volume of offense against a quality kid.

He majored Heinselman last night. Drew beat Malik in SV in 2019. Transitive property, etc, but I think a major is within the realm of possible. I imagine the atmosphere at the dual is going to be a factor--not Carver/Rec levels, but still something that could edge some of these bouts toward bonus/upset.

Cael coached quality wrestlers don't get bonused. Just saying.

I am looking forward to a competitive dual where both teams are at full strength.

I don't think Storr goes.
I don't know why Cam Amine wasn't in the lineup against tOSU.
I hope Berge goes.
I hope NLee is at full strength.

Suriano looks real strong. Wish we could have seen him vs Spencer this season. I think Karchla would have handled Cam Amine. Brucki doesn't scare me vs Dean. I think A Brooks vs M Amine is basically a toss-up but Aaron will find a way. I like us in the Dual, though it will be close. In a tournament, we beat them with a bit more of a comfortable margin.

I think Romero should of won that match.
If he could finish a TD consistently against top competition... but I've yet to see it, so no he shouldn't have.

Should've as much won an NCAA D1 football championship. I hear tell (too often) he was a helluva quarterback in HS in Ohio.

Romero and Amine are both "lul you to sleep and hit you with some impressive quick-twitch" type guys. Amine's skill with his quick-twitch is a level above though. I think Aaron's pressure will be the difference. If not in the dual, then in the postseason. But I tenatively think Brooks wins 3x.

I like us at 133, 141, 174, 184, and 197.
I like our chances of taking at least one of 149 or 285.
That would be enough on paper.

At this point, though, still a fair amount of uncertainty about who will be wrestling. Berge, Cam Amine, and Storr are all question marks. Though, I’m not so sure Storr is still a better option than Mattin, anyway. This dual will be an excellent test of Bartlett’s mettle.

125: Suriano MD Hildebrandt 0-4
133: RBY TECH Ragusin 5-4
141: Lee DEC Micic 8-4
149: Bartlett DEC Storr 11-4

165: Amine DEC Edsell 11-10
174: Starocci DEC Massa 14-10
184: Brooks DEC Amine 17-10
197: Dean DEC Brucki 20-10
285: Parris DEC Kerk 20-13

Ragusin is tough but is not there yet. He just got took to the woodshed by McGee, RBY smokes him. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kerk pulls it out against Parris so hope I’m wrong there.

Have never heard a wrestling match referred to in that way. Have heard "wrestling dual meet" or just "wrestling dual" or "wrestling match", but never "wrestling meet".

Not going to get into an extended banter, but I have:

“TYPES OF MEETS
  • Dual A dual is any head to head match between two schools. Conference meets are generally duals.
  • Tri or Quad A tri meet and a quad meet involve three or four teams at the same event. Each team will wrestle two separate matches at a tri or quad.”

Again, have never heard of a "dual meet", which is what the upcoming Michigan-PSU match is (or Tri or Quad Meet for that matter), merely referred to as a "wrestling meet".... a "wrestling dual meet", yes or a "wrestling match", but have never heard of a "wrestling dual meet" refered to as simply a "wrestling meet" - maybe as simple as the region of PA I'm originally from (NW PA - a very well known wrestling area), but nobody would refer to such an event as simply a "wrestling meet". "Track Meet" -yes. "Swimming Meet", yes. But have never heard "Wrestling Meet" without the "Dual" placed in front of meet when two teams are facing each other as Michigan and PSU are.

Is this the "Things CJFisJoePall has never heard of" thread??
