Michigan meet....

Is this the "Things CJFisJoePall has never heard of" thread??

Well it really isn't a point without meaning. On a wrestling forum it would be common to refer to a head-to-head event as simply a "dual" (i.e., the upcoming Michigan-PSU dual.) or "match" (i.e., the upcoming Michigan-PSU match.), but I have never heard anyone refer to a head-to-head event as simply a "meet", the way you would refer to a track meet or swim meet. Context is everything in regards to this conversation.

It seems other people have.

Did you not understand what the OP meant, think someone else on "The Wrestling Room" didn't understand what the OP meant, or mean to prevent the OP from the risk of further embarrassment?

For clarity, that is a rhetorical question.

I agree "context is everything."

I'm confused what is it again? A dual or a dual meet or a dual wrestling meet or a wrestling dual meet or a wrestling dual

Have never heard a wrestling match referred to in that way. Have heard "wrestling dual meet" or just "wrestling dual" or "wrestling match", but never "wrestling meet".
I'll take "Things that everyone other than CJF

31 messages from people that understood exactly what the OP meant, and this is your contribution? Any thoughts on the results of whatever you want to call this wrestling meet?

Think Penn State will win at least 6 of 10 rounds. They will have more than twice as many touchdowns as Michigan. Two of the rounds will probably go to extra innings.
Here's my take.
125-decision Hild
133-not even close RBY wins
141-Lee
149-Beau
157-rutgers
165-Edsell
174-Cstar
184-AB
197-Dean
285-Kerk

Four matches I want to see the most is 141 if Lee goes. 184 will be interesting Poz is the real deal. 197 will be interesting. I think Dean answers a lot of questions here. 285 Kerk will come out and show why PSU is PSU and will wrap up a long night for runtgers.

Wasn't Brooks DT work out partner for some big tournament? How bad did DT beat Amine? Same outcome with Brooks!

125: Suriano DEC Hildebrandt 0-3
133: RBY DEC Ragusin 3-3
141: Lee DEC Micic 6-3
149: Bartlett DEC Storr 9-3
157: Lewan DEC Negron 9-6
165: Amine DEC Edsell 9-9
174: Starocci DEC Massa 12-9
184: Brooks DEC Amine 15-9
197: Dean DEC Brucki 18-9
285: Kerkvliet DEC Parris 21-9

Several matches are going to be nail biters. They might have bonus on their side in a couple of matches, maybe 125, 157, 165, but our guys in those slots haven't been giving up bonus. Hildebrandt, for instance has only ever given up bonus to Spencer Lee (2x) and Seabass. Suriano has bonused three guys in his entire career ranked higher than 20. Is he that much better now?

I ain't skeered.
So you have Edsell winning the wrestle off over Berge. Interesting.

Again, have never heard of a "dual meet", which is what the upcoming Michigan-PSU match is (or Tri or Quad Meet for that matter), merely referred to as a "wrestling meet".... a "wrestling dual meet", yes or a "wrestling match", but have never heard of a "wrestling dual meet" refered to as simply a "wrestling meet" - maybe as simple as the region of PA I'm originally from (NW PA - a very well known wrestling area), but nobody would refer to such an event as simply a "wrestling meet". "Track Meet" -yes. "Swimming Meet", yes. But have never heard "Wrestling Meet" without the "Dual" placed in front of meet when two teams are facing each other as Michigan and PSU are.
Great
