NCAA Session 4 Thread ...

Worst JC can do is 6th even if he loses to Richards. If he losses, he goes to the 5/6 placement match against the other Consi Semi loser. Two time AA for JC - who would have guessed that when he was a Fr or So???

Also, Jordan Conway is the prototypical example of the "advantage" Cael Sanderson was talking about regarding the advantage of a plethora of no-name AA "Pennsylvania wrestlers" advantage he would have at PSU that he did not enjoy at ISU.....

Bo didn't pressure Jackson enough. I saw him gas hard in the 3rd against Meyer and it was because Meyer kept the pressure on him. Way too close for comfort.
Bo couldn't pressure him because Jackson is as good at throwing as Nickal. Nobody else can make that claim in his weight classification imo.

I did. I believe he reached round of 12 his freshman or sophomore year not sure. I've watched Jordan since high school and he's the perfect example of how much hard work and dedication can lead to you becoming a successful wrestler. The kid won so many matches just by outworking his opponents. I'm going to miss watching him wrestle.

Out of high school you had Jordan, Nico, and Beckman. Who would have thought that Jordan would have been the more accomplished wrestler between he and Beckman, who is a very good wrestler, too?

Jackson is no fluke. Bo was fortunate to win that one.

Definitely no fluke - his style is a bad match-up for Bo. He is the only guy I saw all season who got the better of upper-body and strong hips for throws versus BKW. Virtually everybody is leary of being thrown by Bo, but Bo needs to be leary of getting to close to Jackson in the future.

Mizzou coaches using a challenge to get their guy a breather. Either that or they're delusional because there was literally nothing to challenge there. Dudley had about as obvious NF as you get.

Epperly of VaTech up 4-1 over Meyer of Iowa on Mat 1. 2nd Period and Epperly has nearly 2 minutes of RT.

2nd row tomorrow night to watch our Nits (praying) get crowned. Went to the opening session Thursday and that was electric. Was a lot of fun to see how many huge groups from schools far away showed up. Iowa, Ok State had very impressive turnout.

I thought they were maybe challenging the 4-count (it was close whether it was a set of 2 or 4), but it turns out they were challenging a "technical penalty" - illegal move of kicking out the knee. But I didn't see anything and neither did the officials on replay.

This should be fun, Burak is going to do his best Sorenson and bore us to death here against Mac. Is there two more boring supposedly "All-American" top wrestlers than Burak and Sorenson???

197 Semi
Morgan McIntosh vs. Nathan Burak (Iowa)'

They are meeting for the 6th time. McIntosh has won the previous 5 bouts.

Is this the 1st PSU - Iowa matchup of this year's NCAAs?

Per 1
Nothing thru 1 min. MM in on a low single, they scramble, and MM gets the TD at 1:25, and they are OOB at 1:23, 2-0. Burak to his feet, and he's out at 1:05, 2-1. 20 sec of RT for MM. MM in on another low single, and another scramble, and they run out of time. 20 sec of RT for MM

Per 2
MM takes down. He's up and to his feet and out in 9 sec, 3-1. RT cut to 10 sec, so I guess he was out in 10 sec. Burak nearly got an ankle pick but MM kicked away as he was falling back. 1 min left. Burak reaches, nothing. Too much ear to ear for my liking. MM with a double attempt but it's blocked. I thought he had it but stopped his attack. End.

Per 3
Burak takes down. Burak slow to work up, and they are OOB at 1:45. Burak slowly trying to build up, and he's back down. Tohis base again, and to his feet, and they are OOB at 1:20. Stall warning for pushing out on McIntosh. RT at 50 sec and growing. Burak up and taken back down. RT now over 1 min. Burak out at 1:03, and RT at 1:07. Burak shoots, blocked. 20 sec left. End, and McIntosh is in the finals, with a 4-2 win due to RT.

FWIW, Cox had a pin in the other semi, so they'll meet in the finals.

I love it that MacIntosh gives Boring Burak a taste of his own medicine in the 3rd Period - e.g., I have the lead @sshole, you want to shorten the match, okay lets wrestle boring and call it a match right now with no more scoring.....

PSU freshmen that have reached the finals at NCAAs?

I don't know the answer to that. Off the top of my head, there's:

Nolf
Nickal
DT
Nico
Kolat

Am I missing any?

Yep. It's down to PSU, Okla. St., and VT.
I believe if/when Snyder wins, it is us and OSU. Should be able to wrap it up tomorrow before the finals even start unless OSU catches fire and pins through

edit: not quite
