Nebraska dual thread - Jan. 17

Why do people continue to underestimate Kasak? He is doing EVERYTHING that other phenomenal PSU wrestlers have done in the past, and who continued to get better. Took 3rd as a freshman, and is 10-0 this year with 70% bonus rate. Tyler should be given every benefit of the doubt until he gives us a reason.
Agree with all you say about Tyler but had to laugh, too. Opinion board or not, anonymous, keyboard tapping cyber coaches granting driven, tough-as-nails, D1 athletes “every benefit of the doubt until given a reason not to” strike me as hilarious. :)

I have been saying he probably wins 157 this year since summer. Shapiro and Kasak should be a great match. I hardly ever "under" estimate any of them. Until something happens that makes it impossible to occur I will believe PSU is going to shutout the Hawks. Hell i think they are going to have 8 or 9 in the finals.

My feelings are hurt that you think I might be underestimating.
I wasn't talking about anyone in particular. It was my sense over time whenever Kasak comes up. It certainly wasn't directed at you.

Not sure if this was a direct response to anything but I have found it weird that people think Duke is just gonna walk in the door and eat his lunch
Actually it wasn't a direct response to anything but your example is one of the things I read and I agree that it doesn't track. I look back at Zain's freshman year. If Duke was on the horizon, would anyone question Zain's ability to fend him off? Nolf's? It's just a sense I have that because he wasn't heralded out of HS as a phenom, he isn't treated as the phenom he now IS. Kasak has grown in the room and jumped levels, and I don't count him out of any match.

None of what I'm saying is a cut on any poster. I literally don't have specific examples. It's just a sense I have. He would be the best wrestler on most teams.

Wrestle stat has penn st beating neb. 33-0 but first 5 matches are real close. Don't think they will shutout Nebraska, so I expect a loss at 125 or 133 and maybe 157. 8-2 or 9-1 with good guys winning 30 -3
Come on man…. Expect? I expect 10-0. Lions have 10 top 5’s in every weight with 2 #1’s and probably 4 or five others for the finals. Greatest team, ever. Expect 10-0.

So just for fun…

Which match has the bigger winning margin- psu v nebby or Iowa v Illinois?

PSU by 3x
Some real good matches could happen in this dual. Looking forward to it. Hardy looks really good and could give Beau some issues Van Ness and Lovett should be priceless. Kasak match should tell us more about his progression. The icing on the cake is the look on Mannings mug at the end lol

Kasak v Taylor is my main event. Taylor is really hard to score on so he's gonna have to be super sharp with his finishing.

Shoot me, but I like knowing there’s a chance we could lose any or all of the first five matches. Threat adds excitement and heightens accomplishment, especially in an arena of hostiles.

Is this a hypothetical, a reference to the past or are you referring to a legit matchup this year? I don't recall or forsee the situation, where we were ever at risk of dropping the first 5, with a championship team..

Of course there were past situations that were very intense, and quite satisfying when we won, such as the dual of the century with Ohio St, but I am more than ok with the new reality of a potential shutout over highly ranked teams. Give me a few years of this and I'll come back an clarify which I like better.

I’m referring to tomorrow. I give every one of their first five a chance at winning (hoping none do). And, yes, I LIKE the threat of tougher opponents against our guys and believe it exists tomorrow. If that's an actionable offense, I plead guilty. ;)

It’s honestly hard to imagine any of these kids out the the lineup. They all have so much talent and drive. I think as we look back it will turn out that Facundo vs Kasak was one of the easier decisions in comparison of what is ahead.

I am excited to see our guys compete against some high quality opponents, but i expect a shutout.
Hardy always wrestles Beau tough and while I expect Beau to win I also expect Hardy to feel like he almost had that match. Of course, that would simply be a Beau match.
The other matches, like I said it will be nice to see them all get some quality opponents but I expect Luke to win with some separation. Davis with a 5 point win, Van Ness to be very impressive and Kasak to take Taylor down at least twice.

With that written the exception to what I expect is the possibility of a train through match. I think it was McSorely who posted a couple weeks back that this might be the week the staff runs the team through the paces all week.

I still expect the shutout, but maybe some ragged looking challenges.

Yeah, we've been talking in circles about this for a while, but between Duke, Sealey, Ryder, Barr, Henckel, and the two Mirasolas, two of them will likely be squeezed out. It's hard to imagine any of those guys at that level not being able to make a starting lineup.

Just sit back and imagen Luke, Jax, Blaze and BO wrestling Infront of that group on back end.
