Totally different. The kid that didn't wrestle had his shirt pulled at the Scuffle. He could have gone unattached. To put the icing on the cake he was told (and it was published) he was going to debut at Carver last night.
Imagine being a transfer in as a Kem insurance policy. Say he gets at 20% Scholy. If Kem goes this year he shirts and wrestles next year (2 years of aid), if Kem can't he burns his shirt and gets to wrestle.
If there was any chance of Kem going this year, let alone on the 10th of January, you don't pull a kid's shirt a week earlier.
Now the kid is stuck at Iowa, his shirt is gone, of Kem stays healthy he doesn't get to wrestle, and next year lacking eligibility, he has to pay for his own tuition 100%. Most kids would at least question why the F@#$ did I come here in the first place?
The ONLY weak rationale I can muster is maybe Brands wants them to go dual duty hoping Swafford gets enough quality wins that if Kem can't make it, Swaf both qualifies and gets a seed for insurance? Fat chance. If that's the case then you lay it out for the kid ahead of time, or he should have had his shirt pulled in November - which obviously didn't happen.
Well the problem is you made most of this up.
Swafford is a life long Iowa fan and chose to walk-on (0% scholarship) knowing full well he likely would never see the mat. Still chose to come to Iowa to compete because being in the room and the slim chance of getting in the lineup was his dream.
That dream isn't dead. His shirt was pulled b/c Kem is not going to wrestle every match the rest of the year. Nelson is injured. Some one is needed at 174 other than Kem. THIS is the BEST route for Swafford to get into the lineup while hes at Iowa.
They burned his RS at the Scuffle knowing it wouldn't matter later - he got to travel with the team and have expenses paid for by the university.
Iowa (and PSU and other schools) constantly put out probable lineups that don't equal what they end up putting on the mat. Sure his family was upset that he didn't compete that night - and that sucks, but that is life it happens all the time.
Fellers knew early in the day, that's why he tweeted out that we'd see Grandpa at Carver that night. It sucks for Brennan for that night, but we will be seeing him in the lineup this year.
I get you guys don't like TnT, but you are all just making up scenarios and running with them as if they are fact to shit on Iowa and TnT.
Kem has been at Iowa for 7 years paying his dues and has sacrificed a ton for the program. He was getting back in the lineup at some point and wanted to go that night.
If this happened at PSU (and it has) ya'll would be defending Cael to the death for choosing his Senior to get into the lineup over a walk on that he said "right now" is our guy.
As far as Brennan 's brother being pissed and complaining about this online, it should be obvious. He posts frantically all the time. The reason I know Brennan walked on is because HE posted it. We're talking about a guy who posted his own financial problem with details on the damn internet. OF course Brennan wasnt going to share with ahead of time that he wasn't going to be in the lineup, only to have his brother tweet about it before hand
