NYC is a bad idea...

I grew up in central PA, and you're full of crap. NYC is a hell of a lot easier than Des Moines or OKC, no comparison whatsoever. Cannot get to either of those cities on a nonstop without flying out of... NYC. Go figure. Oh, and the flights are expensive, and rental cars required.

STL better, but still harder than NYC.

Total cost about the same or less at NYC.

The real question is: why do you insist on sucking on lemons today?
Don't compare costs to get to - compare costs once you're there. When was the last time you were in midtown Manhattan? I'll meet you on the corner of NE and VER.

Live in PA. Jumped on train yesterday. Did a little work for first half of ride, had a few beers for second half of ride. Walked to hotel now heading back to same bldg as train station for round 1.

My group think has made this trip very hard thus far.

NYC wins based upon total costs. Who cares about get-to costs vs. once-there costs? Still have to pay the full bill.

NYC especially wins for groups bigger than 1.

I was in Manhattan 3x last year, as if that matters

They mentioned today that there are 63 wrestlers from PA, 28 from NJ, and I forgot the number from NY. NYC is a great location for the NCAA's considering how big wrestling is in PA, NJ, and NY. The crowds are just about at max capacity so fans are attending. They are also only a 15 minute train ride away from checking out an NCAA basketball tourney (though it may not be their team). The only expensive thing would be the hotel, but again, you're a train ride away from staying close by in NJ.

I sorta wished LIMarty was around. This thread would have been great entertainment between sessions. No doubt he'd be going off on someone. Lol

That's fairly typical for PA products - e.g., 20% of the field. PA products generally dominate the AA field (e.g., 80 total AAs) in about the same way.

Love having the tournament along the I95 corridor. Hopped the 7:34 Acela out of B'more and got to NYC @ 9:45. 1st row w/ TGAR on the 200 level for Quarters. Sat next to a father and his 9th grade wrestler from LI. He was an Iowa fan who was thankful he could bring his kid to a tournament without flying somewhere. (It works both ways) Linch at Harringtons for 3 (drinks & tip included) set me back $120. Off to TGAR's hotel room to chill before dinner. We went off to dine and watch NCAA BBall before the semi's. Great sports bar, big wrestling crowd (Ok State fans were a blast) we were joined by a friends daughter who is forging her way in the world of art. Great to see how kids adapt and grow up. Drinks and dinner for 4 cost another $160. No more than a night out in Baltimore. We were off to the semis. Same seats. Total PSU domination. Awesome. Last Amtrak of the night was 10:05 so I skipped out during 165. Home by 12:30AM. Great day, great effort by Cael's crew and had some laughs with TGAR. I would have loved to stay over but I have a child with severe disabilities an on the weekends either my wife or I have to be in the moment. NYC made that easy. Bring it to DC, University of MD, or Philly. I am in. Peace. GARW

Came from central PA via train. Hotel little pricy but I have enjoyed myself.
If I had a vote I would vote yes bring it back here.
for kids to say they wrestled in MSG..That says it all.Built in 1968 , but still has the vibe.

I thought the Garden handled the event well.
I was really hoping St. Louis would send people to study the Garden's performance getting people into the building. St Louis last year was freaking terrible simply getting people into the building.

If I had a say over a 5 year period I would have it @
1. New York
2. Philadelphia
3. Charlotte NC (NC has 7 D1 wrestling programs)
4. St. Louis (if they figure out how to get people inside) otherwise some other Midwest location
5. Denver and have the Air Force Academy be the host school.

to be selfish, would like a NoVa or DC event, Raleigh, and Pittsburgh!

I like Pittsburgh, but Philly is a bigger population area and I think we should keep the site's in major metropolitan areas just for the increased media coverage that goes with the area.

I would be all in with DC event.

Raliegh or Charlotte whichever area has the largest arena.

LA or San Fran might be cool as well.

NYC, Philly and DC are all a good idea because they are right on the Amtrak / I-95 Northeast Corridor.
