Wow. Marinelli with an absolutely beautiful double leg TD. Quick escape Wittlake. 2-1 early. Period ends 2-1.

Wittlake takes bottom. Quick escape. 2-2. Period ends 2-2. No stall calls.

Marinelli takes bottom. Quick escape. 3-2. Marinelli deep shot… great counter by Wittlake. No one scores. Great exchange there. Wittlake gets aggressive. Stalling late on Marinelli. 3-2 Marinelli final.

0-0 after one at 157. No shots.

Young takes bottom. Young earns an escape after 40 secs. 1-0 Young. Young takes a good deep shot….and gets the TD. 3-0 Young after two.

Sheets chooses bottom. Good action by Sheets on bottom but can’t get escape. Sheets finally gets escape after 1:15. 3-1 Young. 1:11 RT for Young. Late stall call on Young. 4-1 Young with RT.

9-6 Iowa after 157. Hard to see OkSt winning the dual with Iowa winning both 149 and 157.
Watching Youngs retakes made me want to go up into the attic and dig out the old Karate cup....jeez.....

Kemerer with an early single leg TD. 2-0. Putting on a tough ride. Stalling on bottom after being flattened out for some time. Kem really riding hard. 2-0 after one.

After being ridden hard for two plus mins, Plott chooses bottom and earns a quick escape. Kem with another tough TD. 4-1 now. Has Plott flattened out. Stalemate instead of stalling. Kem rides him out. Riding point locked. 4-1 after two.

Kemerer chooses bottom. Quick escape. 5-1 Kem. 6-1 is the final after the riding point.

15-6 Iowa after 174.

Great scramble off a deep Assad shot ends with a Geer TD. Watch that scramble and Marinelli’s double leg TD if you can. 2-0 with 53 secs RT for Geer after one.

Geer chooses bottom. Quick escape makes it 3-0. Geer shoots and gets a quick finish. 5-0. Good ride by Geer. Stalling against Assad. 5-0 Geer after two with 2:18 RT.

Assad chooses bottom. Stalling on Assad. 6-0 after the stall point. Escape and TD. 8-1 now Geer. Riding time locked. Late escape by Assad avoids the major. 9-2 Geer is the final.

15-9 Iowa after 184.

Stika wrestling for AJF against Warner. Stika looks small for 197. First wrestler ever to look small for the weight class from OkSt. Stall on Stika. TD for Warner. 2-0 Warner after one. 1 min RT.

Warner chooses bottom and is immediately up and out. 3-0 Warner. Warner with a nice counter TD. 5-0. Cuts him. 5-1 Warner. Stalling on Stika. Stallings being called more freely now. 6-1 Warner after two.

Stika chooses bottom. Tough ride from Warner. Warner optional start after a restart. 6-2. TD Warner. 8-2 now. Optional start on restart. 8-3. Stika wrestling; hard to believe he gave up stall point. Warner late TD. 11-3 final with the riding point.

19-9 Iowa after 197.

They just said OkSt HWT wrestled at 157 in 2019. Surber gets Cassioppi in danger twice. Brick thrown by Smith. Long review. No points. Surber again gets Cass off-balance after a Cass shot. Cass finally gets TD at 2:30. 2-0 Cass after one.

Surber takes bottom. Cass tough ride. Stall warning on Surber. Cass not close to any turns but Surber most flat entire period. 2-0 after two.

Cass takes bottom. Cass up and out after one mat return. 3-0 Cass. Cass TD makes it 5-0 with about a min to go. Gives escape. 5-1. Stalling on Surber makes it 6-1. Cass TD 8-1. Riding point makes it 9-1.

Iowa wins dual 23-9. No one looked particularly great for Iowa. Eierman and Kemerer looked good. Ybarra close to Mastro but Mastro clearly not 100%.

Fix with a TD at 1:15ish. ADS escapes. Some pushing and clubbing by ADS. All about trying to get a stall call. 2-1 Fix after one. No stall calls.

Fix takes bottom to start 2nd. ADS throws in boots. A bit high but effective. Stalemate 1:16 to go. Optional start. 3-1 Fix. Fix gets in deep but ADS defends then reshoots and is in deep. Stalemate. 33 secs to go. 3-1 Fix after two.

ADS chooses bottom. Fix gets real high and ADS out early. 3-2 Fix. Lots of wrestling left. Still no stall calls. Fix gets a beautiful TD on edge! 5-2 Fix. 1:05 on restart. Another restart and ADS escapes. 5-3 with 30 secs to go. Warning on Fix. Fix wins 5-3. And my feed goes down.

6-0 OkSt after 133
Don’t forget that Fix wrestled on the “undercard” too.

Thanks for the match play by play mcpat! I don't have flo but maybe tomorrow I'll have it after tikk puts out a new thread with his password. 😉

I watched the entire card from the first USA match. I had no problems with FLO streaming....none. Almost 3 hours....no problems. I can't explain it guys because I used to get booted a lot. I switched companies and got a 5G modem and have had zero problems. I did initially have problems after the switch and a technician came out ...took a look....and just shook his head and told me...."You are paying for 5G but the modem they gave you is only capable of 2G. He changed Modems and I have had zero problems since. An honest man. :). Perhaps helpful??

I had a couple of hiccups watching thru the Flo app on my phone. At one point, the feed stopped for 15 secs or so. Nothing more than usual for any internet feed. I also thought Flo’s commentary was quite good. But what I liked most about today’s Flo match was that I could hear both coaches, pretty clearly, throughout. I’m not used to that and I liked it a lot.

I realize we are supposed to bash Iowa as a faithful PSU fan ( Ha Ha ) but the Murin and Young match were close score-wise but neither was ever in danger of losing. They were better on top....better on bottom and once they got the lead they settled in and just refused to seriously engage. They are both hard to take down. Even up.....they are heavy favorites to win a rematch. Marinelli was similar. He was smart enough to realize he was not the better scrambler and just avoided the situations. Got his takedown and lead and then avoided any chance for a re-attack or scramble. He is tough to take down straight on. Kemdog is darn near impossible to take down.....even in a scramble. I can not imagine who ( Lewis or Hidlay?? ) is going to take him down. Warner is like Murin & Young...only better at it.. They are going to be a tough out for anyone come March. Toss in Desanto, Eireman and Cass.....a win in March will be well-earned. Heck ..toss in Ayala and Assad. Tough wrestlers who can get out-scrambled by better scramblers but can and have beaten other good wrestlers. Match-ups are key. Definitely going to be Effin F*N

At this point in the season.....I would guess the betting line for # of All-Americans would be IOWA at 7...maybe 7.5 tops and Penn State being 6.75......7.5 tops. Final placement and bonus points will decide the championship. These polls that have PSU up by 32 or more points are insane. I really want to believe them so I can just enjoy the finals....but am not seeing many scenarios that have PSU winning by more than 30 points. My blood pressure would love it....but my brain won't let me rationally believe it :)

I've been thinking it going to be very close and might come down to who gets more from Iowa's 125 pounder (Drake?) and Penn State 157 pounder (Berge?). You could have a 5 to 10 point swing on points with those 2 unknowns.
Berge's bracket draw will be huge if he gets the 33 seed.

I screwed the above reply???? Copied below.

Announced attendance around 12k

This could really hurt another event like this happening if not on a college campus.

Where have they been before and what was the attendance? When I figured out what was actually happening, the thought occurred to me that Texas isn’t exactly known for its support of wrestling. I get that they couldn’t have it outdoors in Pittsburgh, but still.

Ayala is very talented but would be coming back from what might have been a major injury and he’s got the common bottom issues of a freshman. Eierman seems to have hit his ceiling last season. SeaBass has to be favored over him at this point. Murin could be a back end AA, but that’s not a given. K Young can beat beat guys ranked below him but not above. He was an AA last year in a depleted field, but he won’t AA this year. His lack of offense will see to that. Marinelli is tough but we certainly don’t need to discuss his NCAA tournament track record. Kemerer is fantastic and will be a finalist vs Starocci with a nearly 50% chance to win that. No need to discuss Assad. Warner gassed badly vs Dean and he can be inconsistent. Cassioppi is tough but give me Kerk in the rematch with the necessary strategy adjustments.

Bottom line is, barring injuries (knock on wood), it won’t be close. A 30 point margin is about right.

I respect Iowa, but against the entire field the only wrestler they have that has delivered when the lights are the brightest will be sitting on the bench.

Well...they had a bunch of these things prior to covid.

Battleships, roof tops of buildings, etc

Kinnick is the current gold standard. Probably remains that way unless psu does something similar at the Beav

Tend to agree with the caveat that Ayala is back at full strength. Between 49, 57, 65, 84 and 97, I think Iowa could outscore us - really depends on what kind of Tournament their guys have. PSU outscoring Iowa between 25, 33, 41, 74 and HWT..... I like our chances, but again, it's far from a lock. Again, this depends on who goes for Iowa @25 and how they look - B1G's will be very telling.

They out score us at 84?
