Oklahoma State vs Iowa Discussion Thread

You start 50 Iowa Threads in 2 months and 0 okie State threads. Then you trash both teams because football interests you more.

If you're going to be a semi-regular on this board, you should improve your reading comprehension skills. This is not HR.

The Okie State kids have looked relatively well conditioned. Moore looks like he partied too hard last night.

and then the BTN duo thinks that riding time should be awarded after a challenge changes no TD to a TD. Anything after the change is called dead time. The clock is reset to what it was at the time when a call is reversed, and nothing that took place after that counts, as it took place in dead time.

again, this isn't rules minutia, it's something that any ref would know, and most coaches should know. You'd think that with all the years that Gibbons has in the sport, that he might have a clue about that

In the event that you don't already know, if any of you recall Cooper Moore from UNI a couple of years ago-Paden is there now at 157-this is their younger brother.

Just as there is between here and Harvard. Don't flatter yourself.

Well, the bar is set pretty low at HR, so it's not difficult to exceed. It's all relative. You're the one who brought an Ivy into the discussion.

Sometimes talking muscles just overwhelm thinking muscles.

197 - Weigel vs. Wilcke

We have a good ol' fashioned stare-down here, folks. Under a minute left. Upper ties and leaning for remainder of period. 0-0.

Weigel takes bottom. Weigel escapes at 1:46 (1-0). Back to ties and leaning. They separate and Weigel dives for legs, converts for TD (3-0). Weigel rides out, Wilcke seems worn down on bottom.

Wilcke chooses neutral. TD Weigel (5-0). Now bonus may be possible. Weigel riding. Stall warning on Wilcke, but Weigel just hanging/laying on him. Weigel rides out, doesn't even attempt a turn. Wins 6-0.

Iowa 17, OSU 12

OSU very unimpressive. They look like it’s March or something. Give Bowman credit as he wrestled to win.

Tom, your expectations are unreasonably high for Gibbons and Johnson.

Not sure why they wouldn’t have cut wilcke. Weigel scored pretty easily when he actually shot.

Weigel is a stout 97. Props to him. Wilke is much improved but had no answer today.

I know John Smith is the ultimate Legend, but he's got to take some kind of hit for this miserable performance by his team. They had no energy, no intensity and just looked pitiful overall.

285 - White vs Stoll

Upper ties. White slips 2-on-1 tie for throw-by, gets behind, but Stoll runs as White tries to cling to love handles by fingertips, and Stoll gets away unscathed. Nothing more. 0-0.

White takes bottom. Stoll hangs on him. OSU challenging for locked hands as wrestlers go OOB. Looks to me like White dropped a knee to try to get a call . . . and he gets it (challenge successful -- 1-0 White). White out quickly on restart (2-0). Stoll oh-so-close to TD, but White slips out. Brands challenge. Wow, very graphic, slow-mo oil check on replay. Gratuitous. And TD awarded (2-2). Quick escape on restart (3-2 White). Ties and leans the remainder of the period.

Stoll takes bottom. Immediate escape (3-3). Pushing time. Failed throw-by for Stoll, still 3-3. White ducks and gets behind, but called OOB before control secured. Smith challenging. No dice, 3-3. Going OT.

White attmpts throw-by, Stoll dives for single, White can't spin behind, Stoll up to base, but can't turn corner before they go OOB. Time expires.

Stoll down. Escapes early. Period ends, Stoll up 4-3.

White down. Out early. Period ends 4-4.

SV2: White in deep, can't convert, Stoll rolls around for takedown and win. 6-4.

Final Dual Score: Iowa 20, OSU 12.

Smith looked fairly disgusted sitting in the background and lifting his arms and then giving a dismissal wave. I wasn't sure if he was disgusted with his kid being comfortable coasting to a win or with the officiating.

He should have been disgusted with himself.

As a tournament team, OKST could still potentially be really good in March though, right?
I'm not sure I'd call them a mess just yet.

Feel sorry for poor Daton Fix. It's a lot of weight to put on the young man's shoulders to change the entire culture of this unmotivated, uninspired bunch.

Probably a bit of both. Those performances at 149 and 184 don’t help either
