Football Penn State survives Bowling Green upset bid 34-27

They certainly are. And honestly, they don’t look like they’re outmatched by talent either. Their QB sees the whole field, is calm, and can make any throw. Their running back room is tough, doesn’t go down with arm tackles, and they all have quick moves. Their wide receivers also have the toughness of running backs but they all have good hands too—they’re running great, predictable routes for their QB and hauling in whatever is near them. Seems like their o-line is getting the best of our d-line too.
Their OLine is manhandling our “elite” defensive line and linebackers. Looks like we are going to have to outscore them to win.

You can't overreact to a half a football. Just like too many people made last week bigger than it was this doesn't matter as long as we clean it up
You will. Bowling Green will not beat Penn State for 4 quarters. Especially in Happy Valley, which is where I assume the game is being plated.

Strange offensive stat. Allar is 5-8 passing. Only 5 passes and only 1 completed to a WR (Evans).

BG had 5 players catching passes.

If this continues in the 2nd half, and a bye week upcoming, now would be the time to shake Allen’s hand and say good luck but we’re going in another direction

Evans had a drop. Wallace had a catch that came back because of a hold.
We need to throw more obviously

We know that's not happening--doesn't mean it shouldn't but zero chance they fire him after 1 really bad game

Yeah but it shouldn't be at that way but we are making it that way. We have better talent at every position but they are just rolling us now. Not saying they don't have talent and can have some success against our D but this is beyond absurd.

It's looking like Kotelnicki may only scheme 1 or 2 pass catchers per game, rotate them game to game. I suppose this will keep defenses guessing on who to key on. Just my opinion.

Tom Allen can coach up Indiana against PSU but he can't coach up PSU's defense against Bowling Green at home.

I didn't like the Tom Allen hire. Couldn't stand him at Indiana. Can't stand him here.

D is TOTALLY behind everything...can't keep both safeties back 20 yards, especially on possible run downs...how about this - have CB cover WR and your most athletic LB/S cover their great TE?

Ueah

We're blitzing and playing tight man coverage. BG is using that against us with quick release plays.

The worst was when we had them 3rd and 14. IMO we should have played back and given them 5 yds and a FG. Instead we blitzed and got beat for a TD in the EZ.

We get the ball first. Need to score. D will make adjustments. Their O basically played a perfect game. Unlikely to continue. Just win, baby.

I don't understand what's happening--play calling is great 80% of the time--the other 20% it's like a bad flashback
Agreed. Between the 20s the play calling has been good. Inside the 20s the play calling makes me think they want to kick field goals.

Meanwhile scUM is getting their asses kicked in the big Outhouse - Texas up 24-3 and scUM has a grand total of 90 yards of offense (Texas has 280 yards of offense). Texaa has 15 First Downs ----- scUM 4 First Downs..... scUM just getting smoked @home.

And lost in the defense's horrible performance is BG has figured out how to stop the infamous Singleton zone read carry up the middle. How many more times will we see them stuff that at a crucial time?

This is a nice 2nd game for PSU. They should win, but BG is good enough to pester us in certain areas if we're deficient there. Nice situation where Franklin can watch those areas be exposed (so he can address them) without a *true* threat of losing the game.
@LandoComando laughed at the above comment when it was made. Poor Lando.
